Town of Mashpee <br /> �ti x �h 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649 <br /> BOARD OF HEALTH - PUBLIC SESSION <br /> Mashpee Town Hall —Waquoit Meeting Room <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of February 21, 2019 <br /> Board Members Present: Member Absent: Also Present: <br /> Brian Baumgaertel,Chair None Glen Harrington, Health Agent <br /> Laurel Almquist,Co-Chair <br /> Mallory Langler,Clerk <br /> Chair Brian Baumgaertel called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. <br /> APPOINTMENTS <br /> 7:15—31 Evergreen Circle <br /> Michael McGrath, of Holmes and McGrath, Introduced himself to the board and provided revised plans <br /> for the project stating that,pursuant to conditions of the ZBA,some minor changes had been made to the <br /> drainage system,which were reflected on the new site plan. Glen Harrington asked whether there were <br /> any changes to the subsurface components of the drainage,and Mr. McGrath responded that there were <br /> none. Mr. McGrath stated that the applicant is proposing to construct a new dog care center. The septic <br /> system that is provided is a large, denitrification system with the Ruck Filter and So.ilAir System to assist <br /> the Ruck in staying aerobic. A special permit had been acquired for the building, and the Ruck system <br /> would be located in the back of the building and would be used for human wastewater only. Mr.McGrath <br /> assured board members that dog waste would not pass through the Ruck system, but would be removed <br /> from the site. A non-hazardous industrial tank will also be located on the site. <br /> Mr. McGrath described in detail how the Ruck system works and stated that the variance being requested <br /> is to waive construction of the Soil Absorption System (SAS) reserve area. Mr. Harrington informed the <br /> board that this Is new construction and the SAS should be within three feet of grade. Mr.McGrath.agreed <br /> to provide evidence of prior approval to support a depth of six feet below grade, and Mr. Harrington <br /> stated that the Department of Environmental Protection(DEP)approval would supersede Title S. <br /> Chairman Baumgaertel agreed that the board would need something from DEP indicating that they would <br /> honor the prior approval given to Mr. McGrath. There was discussion about the use of a baffle tank with <br /> a pump chamber as an alternative, but Mr. Harrington indicated that would create the need fora much <br /> larger pump chamber to meet the dosing requirements. <br /> Chair Baumgaertel asked Mr. McGrath if he typically uses a Zabel filter and he answered in the affirmative. <br /> Chair Baumgaertel asked if there was a requirement for quarterly maintenance, and Mr. Harrington <br /> 1 <br />
