MASHPEE ENVIRONMENTAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> MARCH 13, 2019 - 6:30 P.M. <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL-OCKWAY MEETING ROOM <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Present: Michael Talbot,Dale McKay, Joe Cummings, Rick York, Tom Hoppensteadt,Andrew <br /> Gottlieb <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chair Michael Talbot opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. <br /> APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES: <br /> February 13,2019 -Hold <br /> COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> PFA and PFOS Contamination in Mashpee: Implications for Our Drinking Water and the <br /> Quashnet River Restoration <br /> There was a discussion on the PFA and PFOS contamination in Mashpee. Mr. Hoppensteadt noted <br /> PFOS contamination was due to the fire retardants used when they use to train at the base which <br /> seeped into the groundwater. Mr. Cummings stated previously the town sent the results of the testing <br /> and it was noted the results are posted online and a notice was included in the water bill. Mr. Gottlieb <br /> stated no one is being exposed in the Town of Mashpee. <br /> ACTION ITEMS UPDATE <br /> Bylaws for Plastic Straw and Polystyrene Bans for Mashpee: Update on October Town Meeting <br /> Mr. Talbot reported the bylaws will be included at the fall townmeeting and Mr. Gottlieb reported <br /> typically they do money articles in the spring and bylaws and zoning in the fall. <br /> Mass,Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program (MVP): Update <br /> Mr.York stated the application has been submitted. <br /> Mashpee Greenway and Funding for the Quashnet River Footbridge: No Update <br /> Mashpee Community Garden and MCGAC: Update <br /> Mr. Gottlieb stated this article and other CPC articles are on the town meeting warrant. <br /> Mashpee CWMP: <br /> DNR/Estuary Restoration/Shellfish Program: Update <br /> Mr. York stated they are tooling up for the upcoming season and expect to continue with the <br /> comprehensive plan. <br /> IMA's with other towns: Waquoit Bay Watershed Update <br /> Planning and Funding for Wastewater Management/Sewers: Update; and Possible Support for <br /> Wastewater Funding Initiatives by Andrew Gottlieb <br /> Mr. Gottlieb stated the town meeting articles for the final design for the transfer station, wastewater <br /> treatment facility and the first phase of the collection system in the area immediately adjacent to the <br />
