transfer station are on the town warrant. They are debt exclusion contingent so there will be a question
in the election to authorize the spending. This is really important part of the program. We also have an
article to take advantage of a provision of the General Laws that allows towns to set aside a set
percentage of the local receipts from the short term stay rental tax bill. This is going to be a significant
windfall to the town so we have an article asking the town to put 75% of that money in a capital reserve
fund for wastewater purposes which will offset money that we will have to ask for permission to spend
from the property tax base. It shifts costs from property taxes to the visitor economy which is an
important thing to do. He said there is a fourth article that will be to authorize expenditure with an
undetermined amount of money to hire a technical consultant to assist the sewer commissioners in the
development of the policies necessary to run a system.
Mashpee Nutrient.Control Bylaw: No Update
Town-wide Stormwater Management Mitigation Planning: Update (including Santuit Pond)
DNR and PALS Pond& Estuary Water Quality Monitoring: Update, including Santuit Pond
REPORTS
Conservation Department Report: -No Updates
• Herring Run Fish Ladder Improvements; Herring Count Program w/ADCC: Update
• Pollinator Gardens: Update
• Land Stewards Program: Update
• Damage to and Dumping on Conservation Lands: Update
Quashnet River Restoration/Realignment Project: Update
Mr. Talbot noted there will be a meeting to see the restoration proof the Coonamessett River in progress.
The Botanical Club will be meeting on March 17 at 2:00 at the Coonamessett Bog on John Parker Road.
Farley Bog Restoration: Update
Mr. Gottlieb stated there are two CPC funded projects for the Farley Bog Restoration and creation of a
variety of wildlife habitats and the Quashnet River Restoration.
ADDITIONAL TOPICS: This space is reserved for topics that the Chairman did not reasonably
anticipate would be discussed
Motion: Mr. York moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. McKay.
