MAS EE WATERWAYS COMMISSION JUTE 14, 2011 MEETING <br /> MINUTES <br /> The meeting of the June 14, 2011 meeting of the Mashpee Waterways Commission, <br /> meeting room#3, Mashpee Town Hall, was called to order by Chairman Iden Bates at <br /> 9:05 ASI. <br /> Present were: Tim Leedham, Paul Zammitt , Bill Taylor, Steve Pinard, and Ken Bates <br /> Also present: Rick York,, Shellfish Constable, Mile Richardson, BOS Lias n, Bran— <br /> reporter, Mashpee Enterprise <br /> Not in attendance: Perry Ellis, Al Wielel <br /> Correspondence: Iden Bates disseminated'correspondence including letters from Donnan <br /> Hayes, BSC group reporting a monitoring report for the P pp nesset Barrier Beach <br /> condition report and Shore Bird Monitoring report as required under SPB management <br /> Plan. <br /> S Meeting: Iden Bates updated the members on his attendance at last weeks BOS <br /> meeting to explain newspaper reports of marina planning by the Conu-nissi n. It was <br /> explained that planning was simply being discussed as a forward thinking effort by the <br /> Commission s it considers several current and future possible projects requiring <br /> attention and manpower of the Commissioners. Ken reported that the Board of <br /> Selectmen thanked all the Commission members for their efforts during the past year. <br /> Committee Reports <br /> Harbormaster: no report <br /> Shellfish Constable: Rick York, Mashpee Shellfish Constable reported that <br /> Mashpee Police Lt Reid has been interviewing candidates for the open Harbormaster <br /> position . Navigation and swim markers are in the water. The Town urge is due to he <br /> launched this coming week. Shellfish gear is being prepared for additional, annual <br /> propagation of shellfish in the Mashpee Bays and estuaries As in the past, Amerie rp of <br /> Cape Cod is assisting the Town In this effort. <br /> P pp nesset Bay: Tim Leedham reported that there was very heavy algae bloom <br /> present in the waters due to the high temperatures, however it has been shrinking with <br /> current cid weather. Little activity present other than fishing. <br /> aqu it Bay: Ken Bates reported on some fishing Present on the entrance jetties, <br /> some algae bloom, clamming activity present. <br /> Water Quality; Steve Pinard reported on the Mashpee Water Quality Test <br /> Program activity to date. A final meeting of the WQ Steering Committee will tale place <br />
