Mashpee waterways Commission Meeting Minutes <br /> July 13th, 2010 <br /> Meeting Called to order by Chairman Ren Bates at approximately 9:18 AM, Tuesday <br /> July 13th, 2010 <br /> Present were: Ren Bates, Steve Pinard, Bill Taylor, Al wiekel, and berry Ellis. <br /> Also in attendance: B S member Mike Richardson, Shellfish warden Rick York and <br /> Town Conservation agent Andrew McManus. <br /> Motion: To accept June's minutes as amended, M ti n was made by Al wlekel, second <br /> by Perry Ellis, unanimously approved. <br /> Discussions began with description of new Open Meeting Law requirements for future <br /> Waterway's Meetings and Agenda,filing procedures with Mashpee Town Hall. Chairman <br /> Bates and Al Wickel agreed to research further the requirements and meet the intent o <br /> the new laws for future meetings. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Harbormaster: Perry Ellis reported a very busy 4 1h f July weekend. Weather was perfect <br /> and lout traffic on both Bays was average for this holiday weekend. Traffic on the Bays <br /> was off this year compared to previous years and mooring fields were only half filled a <br /> f the 1st f July. wak by Lake boat was out for repairs and John's Fond boat was being <br /> used on wak by until repairs were completed. Chairman rates added that a letter had <br /> been sent to Coast Guard woods Hole Croup regarding the entrance to Pppncsset Bay <br /> and the Commission was waiting for a response. <br /> Shellfish: Rick York reports that shell fishing had been strong on the Bays. water <br /> temperatures were recorded as being the highest he has ever seen or heard of. These <br /> conditions were resulting in excellent growth for the hard shell clams and oysters, but <br /> that the soft shell clams were suffering from the high temperatures. Little River showed <br /> adequate oxygen levels but very high temperatures. Mashp e River and most of waclu it <br /> Bay were enjoying conditions that showed less then normal seaweed accumulations, and <br /> therefore better boating conditions. <br /> Popponesset Bad; ferry Ellis reported that the ramps on weekends are very busy. <br /> Activity levels were steady throughout the week. <br /> yagu it Bay: Perry Ellis reported similar boating conditions on waqu it as he had seen <br /> on Fppneset. <br /> Freshwater-flash -wakb_: Bill Taylor reported that there was nothing new to report. <br />
