Mashpee W Commission February 4, 2009 <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ken Bates at 9:07 AM in Meeting Room#3,Mashpee Town <br /> Hall. <br /> Present: Iden Bates, Bill Taylor,Perry Ellis,Gerry Daly, Tim Leedham,Steve Pinard <br /> Absent. Al Wickel <br /> Others in attendance.Rick York,Jim Hanks <br /> Motion to approve the January 13,2009 Meeting minutes as amended made by Steve Pinard,seconded by <br /> Perry Ellis and was unanimously approved. <br /> Committee Fie orfs: <br /> Harbormaster: Perry Ellis reported that ice has been heavy in all water areas however,late last <br /> week there has been some ice breakage and limited ice in some areas of the Bays. and Great and Little <br /> Diver is presently open.. Generally clam and oyster fishing has not takers place clue to ice coverage. The <br /> Parol Boat repair work on the transom)has been progressing well and should be completed in time for the <br /> coming season. <br /> Shellfish Report: Rick York reported that the Bays have frozen over and it has been tough for <br /> hellfishing. Oysters are still available,but the areas are frozen. The Department has been gearing up for <br /> the coming year. Rick explained that the Mashpee Water Quality Program is undergoing some changes <br /> that should reflect improvements and simplicity of the sampling process this summer. The Waterways <br /> Commission will be responsible for the managing the Project. Rick York emphasized the need to keep the <br /> Program going forward as it is a critical part of the Mate Department of Environmental Protection Plan for <br /> water quality. <br /> P pponessett Bay: Tim Leedham reported that ice was heavy in most parts of the upper Bay area <br /> as well as Ockway Bay. Tim Leedham explained that the Mashpee Neck Marina was successfully using <br /> plastic ice protection sleeves on the dock pilings which have been very successful in preventing any ice <br /> carnage. <br /> waquoit Bay: Perry Ellis reported that the bay had iced over several times however there recently <br /> has been ars expansion of some ice free water. <br /> Mate Dredge Date Meetings: Iden Bates reported that the meeting with the State that had been <br /> scheduled mid January had been canceled due to weather. The meeting will be rescheduled to take place <br /> later the enol of February or earl} in March. <br /> Sewer Commission Advisory Committee: no report. <br /> Mashpee wak by Lake Management: Bill Taylor reported on the progress of the Spring Report. <br /> Nater Quality: Steve Pinard reported on the many meetings that have taken place since the last <br /> Waterways Commission meeting with Brian Howes S AST ,Jinn Hams,Ken Bates,and Rick York.The <br /> purpose of these meetings has been to review the water Quality Vesting Program to identify of the <br /> program that coup be simplified and changed with an eye towards test sampling improvement,case,and <br />
