Sewer Commission AdvisoryCommittee- Al Wickel reported on the last meeting. Openings for <br /> the District Commission members were discussed. TEXTRON Grants for sewer testing and permitting <br /> were available. <br /> Barnstable County Dredge: no report <br /> Water Quality: Steve Pinard reported that the water Quality Test Team will be holding a Boat <br /> Captains meeting later in the day. Bay Managers will be working with their teams to select and assign <br /> volunteer crew positions,process for sample pick-up and drop-off,and communication flows.volunteers <br /> and Training Program meetings are being scheduled for June. <br /> Steve Pinard reported on the Conservation Law Foundation meeting and seminar held on May 9h, <br /> at the CCCC. It was very informative as it included a strong panel, with many experts who discussed <br /> wastewater and the future ofCape Cod Bays. <br /> Public Access: Perry Ellis noted that repairs are being undertaken at the Town landing docks at <br /> the Mashpee River and Great River in Mashpee. Hardware had been obtained by Perry Ellis and volunteer <br /> labor for installation was offered by Marls Burtis, Little River Boat Yard. Al wiekel noted that he was able <br /> to provide additional needed foam float material to complete float repairs.It was noted that frequent <br /> volunteer assistance has been offered by both Mark and John Burns, Little River Boat Yard and Marina,to <br /> the Mashpee Harbormaster Office and this has been very appreciated. The waterways Commissioners also <br /> noted their gratitude for this service. <br /> Old Business: <br /> Stere Pinard noted that lean Bates had sent the letter requested by the Commission at the last <br /> meeting to the Board of selectmen. Copies were forwarded earlier to waterway Commission members. <br /> New Business: <br /> Al wickel noted that he has had conversations with a number of Town residents regarding the <br /> deplorable condition of the Mashpee Nivea'. The residents urged a focus by the Waterways Commission on <br /> this area to help keep the River workable as a water source and usable for recreation. The discussion <br /> commented on funding difficulties as a key issue facing the Town for maintenance dredging efforts. <br /> Comments regarding potential availability of State and Federal Grants under the Stimulus Packages were <br /> exchanged,with agreement that the Army Corps of Engineers involvement could be a significant plus for <br /> funding efforts. It was agreed that further discussion as to wags to explore funding needs to take place. <br /> Perry Ellis also noted the reed for immediate attention ofthe waterways Commission regarding <br /> the Popp nesset Bay Permit FP's and related process for the recently approved dredging permit funding <br /> by the Town Meeting. <br /> Correspondence <br /> none <br /> motion to adjourn at 10-.
