Iredg Permits,and Improvement Plan: Iden Bates reported that the RFP submitted on,dune 3d <br /> was updated and on June 22,the Board ofSelectmen voted approval to release it to Bid. Keri Bates also <br /> submitted on June 13,the necessary draft Article to continue with Phase 2 work and requests a transfer of <br /> funds from the waterway account to support the Permit Process for the Pppnesett 1916 Charnel <br /> laimtenanee Dredging. Iden Bates confirmed that waterway Commission members had received copies of <br /> all this correspondence. <br /> State Dredge Meeting,: Ren Bates reported that the meeting had.been scheduled,but was <br /> postponed dine to Jinn Hanks being unavailable. The local working group will be meeting to agree on the <br /> document to be sent to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts sachusetts with recommendations. Next meeting date <br /> has not yet been set. <br /> Public Access: Al wiekel, Secretary,was asked to draft a letter to the Board ofSelectmen to <br /> inquire as to the status regarding Mashpee Tern Landings and other Public Access to water areas. The <br /> letter will include a request for a list of where the Landings are located and should be included as Public <br /> Town Landings. A clarification by the Board of Selectmen will also be requested regarding the Role of the <br /> Waterways Commissions regarding these areas,other than navigation. It was noted that the Harbormaster <br /> maintains floats at the locations that have them. <br /> New Business: Ken reported on the meeting held on the Popp nesset Spit with-persons and <br /> officials involved with the installation and evaluation of the use ofSand Drift Fencing this coming Fall. <br /> The State Marine Fisheries did not approve the use of the ferning and the"Save the Bay",group requested <br /> that they reconsider this decision. In addition,the"Save the Bay"group requested that more sand be <br /> provided on the spit from Maintenance Dredging and is needed in low areas. There would be an added cost <br /> for this to be done this year as we are doing a short haul dredge. This issue needs to be resolved. <br /> Next,New Business: <br /> Mashpee resident Ed Baker next made a presentation to the Commission which detailed an alternative <br /> method of dredging the Mashpee River that he believes should be considered. His proposal was a"multi- <br /> step"approach to the project.
