Mashp a Waterways Commi ion October IP.2009 <br /> Meeting Mimutks <br /> The,meeting.was ea.tled to-order.by,Chairman Ken-Bates at:9:07-AM-in-Meeting--Room--#3,.Mash e-Towil..- <br /> 'Hall. <br /> Present: Ken Bates,Steve Pinard,Al Wickel,Bill Taylor,.Per€y E111's <br /> Not Yn Attendance: Tim Leedham <br /> Attendee: Mike Richardson <br /> Motion to approve the September e,2009 Fleeting minutes as amended was made by Steve Pard <br /> seconded by Bill Taylor and was unanimously approved. <br /> Committee Reports:, <br /> Harbormaster Report: Perry Ells reported that the aids to Navigation,swinn area markers,and no- <br /> wake remainders in both fresh and salt-water locations throughout Town would be retrieved by the end of <br /> the week. Evidence of tampering with the Santait Pond Dam.was noticed with most of the level-setting <br /> boards removed and the Pond at a very love lveL Repairs were made by the Harbor Master. Concerns <br /> were expressed regarding the Hering runs and low numbers in most ponds as well as late departures of <br /> }young Herring noticed. Efforts continue in the review of the mooring waiting list. Unfortunately there is a <br /> considerable amount of outdated information on the outdated forms. Many individuals-have moved and it <br /> is a slow process going through and ensurmi g all contacts are made. Discussions followed in how to <br /> improve the process. A suggestion to follow the leads of other Towns and adding an annual fee <br /> requirement to renew to the wait list were rejected by the Commission members in light of recent mooning <br /> fee increases. <br /> Shellfish ConstableReport: Rick York reported that approximately filly people were enjoy g a <br /> good scallop harvest on the opening day of scallop season. Twelve bushels o peeks)were harvested. <br /> Scaops were spread out over most of Waquoit Bay and the harvest should prove better then in recent <br /> years,but still was not as producfive as the oyster and quahog numbers. Rick York announced the oyster <br /> season will begin November I this year.Rick is working with the State on water quality and will keep the <br /> Town informed. <br /> Fresh Water/ lashpee-Wakeby Lake Management Cottee:Bill Taylor reported that all i <br /> quiet,nothing-new to report. <br /> Popponessett Bay: Perry Ellis reported that there were more then the normal numbers of boats <br /> still mi the water at private docks throughout the bay and rivers,but that he had noticed many of the moon <br /> vessels have been pulled already. Al Wickel reported that there was sorne large private dredge equipment <br /> in the bay and reports of private dredging was bung accomplished in New Seabury. Perry Ellis was on tap <br /> of this and would provide the dredge company information to Ken Bates. <br /> Waquoit Bay: Ferry Ellis reported seeing several fishermen enjoying decent weather on the bay <br /> and plenty of scallops still noticed and being harvested. <br /> Sewer Commission Advisory Committee:Iib report . <br /> Barnstable Counter Coastal Resource Committee: Unassigned responsibility. No new letters of <br /> interest in joining the Waterway's Commission were received at this time and no volunteers able to take on <br /> this additional responsibility at this time. <br />
