He lives on
Shoestring Bay.
Chairman,Jinn Hanks,'recognized Mimi Joseph, a lakefront property owner on Mash ee Wakeby
Lake in Mashpee. Ms. Joseph thanked the Commission for sending a Letter to the
Environmental Police, and informed the commission that there continue to be serious violations
n the lake, notably personal watercraft operation after :00 PM and running too close to shore.
Mrs. Joseph also informed the Commission that there have been incidents of dead fish floating
around, and she is concerned that there may be some problem. In the discussion that followed
the Commissioners suggested that the Board of Health should be contacted, and that any dead
fish spotted should be saved for analysis. Also, the Mass wildlife should be contacted.
Mr. Baker registered the following concerns:
Dredging the channel parallel to Popponesset spit does the following:
1. Degrades the spit as it removes material from behind the spit.
2. Adversely impacts the Family Shellfish area because the increased velocity of flow
prevents the set of seed shellfish on the area, and,
. The currents rushing out of the bay directly rotate onto Meadow Point degrading that
part adversely.
He recounted the following series of events:
1. The channel was dredged in 1961
2. 1n 1986!87 time frame a 200 yard segment was dredged parallel to the spit,
