R
6. Barnstable County coastal Resources Committee Update Ca-erald
a-1-y. - ..
Ido report available.
7 . Waterways Improvement Plan and Dredging Permits - Jim Hanks.
Due to the lack of respire from Woods Hole Group, Jim- Irks
asked Joyce Mason to call a contractual meeting betweerF the
Town and the Woods Hole Group. Jim Hanks described the. lrist _of
things to do to assess the various alternatives for methods of
dredging the Mashpee River.- Thi t is to inv-esti-gAte
Mechanical dredging (crane and Clamshell) with the access point
for trucking being old Dock Lane, We need permi&Sian- t - use
the private road and access road. The access road was checked
out for conservation status, and Bob Sherman claimed- t was
taken for back taxes. Dave Bailey, Assessor, said the bill
went to the Association, so they still owned it. Jim asked- him
to why the difference of opinion and he found out it is up f -r
talo-ng. Mark Sheehan, Punkhorn Point Association- Pr`esdent
informed Jim Hanks that the lana has two years of back taxes
from the 86-87 time frame and t. at< the t . . due-- - $-3-6-G-, Jinn
pointed out to hire that if the land is taken; they may have
access problems to their dock.
Jim described the mechanical dredge scenario involving two
barges, two cranes, and two -s- w,&. The idea is to bactrucks
onto a large barge close to shore connected to the shore by-a
ramp over the Marsh.
A shuttle arrangement would take place with t-ruck-s- beim laded
one after another and run up to the disposal pit at ockway Bay
Rd. Herb asked if the costs of the p-it and trucki h _ een
determined yet, and Tim said the information is being
developed. For the ockway Bay s-ite would be 2.100 truck looms
(45 minute to an hour each) at 60 dollars per hour so the math
can tell what the cost is to truck. Jim also de-aeibed earlier
cost information for ocean dumping and disposal at the bourne
Land Fill.
Another proposal discussed--i the ideas o-f pumping the dr dge
material directly into large gent bes that would then allow the
water to ooze out of the bag. conceivably, these could be laid
out on Ma hpee Deck Road, de-watered, and then the material
trucked off.
Jinn pointed out that there ,is a problem with dispos-ing o
dredge material on Poppone-s- -et spit because we do not have-- an
