Mashpee vakeby Lake Enforcement Issues—No change.
Popponesset Bay—Herb Sfly r
In Herb's absence,Jerry Daly reported that there are not many boats left in the water and
little activity.
Waluoit Bay—Jim Danks
Jim reported a similar situation for Waluoit Bay with the exception of a few scallopers and
Commercial Shell-fishermen.
County Dredge Advisory Meeting—William Taylor
Bill Taylor reported that there was no meeting, Rick`fork asked if the County Dredge
was doing maintenance dredging off Popponesset. Jinn Hanks reported that the dredge was
scheduled for mid November, but he had asked Wayne Jaedtke if the schedule could be
reversed to do Chatham first then Popponesset. The reasons are that we did not have a
before-dredge survey in tinne to give the Army Corps of Engineers 2 weeks notice. Also
without the before-dredge survey we couldn't tell Save Popponesset day how much the
booster work would cost, and we still did not have things worked out regarding putting
material on the spit. Wayne was behind schedule anyway, and agreed. We are now
scheduled for the first week in January.
Jim also explained that Save Popponesset Bay is interested in donating an amount of
money to the Town for the purpose of using a booster pump to get the material near the
root of Popponesset Spit). Also, they would like to dredge as much of the material as can
be dredged within their budget and the constraints of our maintenance dredging permit.
They consider this a stopgap measure as they continue to work on the project to re-build
the spit so it Will function more effectively as a barn*er beach.
The donation would be set up in a special account through Diane Rommelmeyer that could
be expended by the Selectmen, and the donation would have to carry with it very specific
instructions on the purpose of the funds and how they are to be used. Jerry Daly asked
whether this would be the inside or outside charnel, arra Jim explained it could be both,
depending on how much material is there, but wewon't know until we get the before-
dredge survey results.
Waterways By-laws and Regulations—Jim Hanks
There is nothing new to report.
Water Quality—Jim Hanks
Nothing to report
. Sewer Commission Citizens Adviso Committee—Paul Lumsden
There was no meeting held during the past month.
.
