6. waterwa s Improvement plan and Drefting permits—Jim Hanks
Jinn stated that he had presented the proposed mooring bill increase to the Selectmen on
Monday night (ferry was out sick), and that they had been approved. He described the
discussions that took place, including the fact that we should review the fee annually, and
present it in a more timely fashion. Jing stated that the mystery invoice in the amount o
$1963.75 from woods Hole group was for out-of-scope work done in preparation for the
Selectmen's presentation in July, and that it had been paid. He added that we have a total of
$14,579.28 renaming out of the total $115,000 that had been appropriated.
Jim Danks mentioned that he had learned from Joy Bennett of Penna-IOC that the sheet
piling runs about $ . o per square foot, so a 1000 foot diameter enclosure would cost about
$50,000. He also said he has to re-visit the calculations to determine how much we would
need.
He has not contacted Ian Hadfield again about the process of using cement to bind up the
muck into a re-cycleable product.
Also, last month Jim had said that a meeting with the Conservation Con nissron Chairmen,
Jim, Bob Sherman,Joyce Mason, 'Town Council and Chuckle Green was being scheduled for
the next week. Unfortunately, the schedule did not work out(with the Holidays etc.), so he
has asked the Town Administrator to reschedule it for early January.
Jim Hanks stated that he had a call from Wayne.laedtke, County Dredge Supervisor, saying
he was sending the booster pump back because it has just not worked. He is too far behind
schedule now(about 3 weeks)to obtain another and get it deployed. we therefore will not
have a booster for this year's maintenance dredging. Also,he has not clone the before-dredge
survey of the Popponesset charnels. He is expecting to do Mashpee around the first of
second week of February.
' . Proposed new channel vice parallel to
Jim Hanks tabled the item once again since the Ma h ee River project is of a higher priority
and no work has been clone.
. Popponesset-Spit Nourishment
Beach Nourishment Easement Form
Jing reported that he has been going back and forth with Save Popponesset Bay on the draft
easement, and that Kevin Harrington was concerned about the fact the Diane Boretos had
accused them(although the County did it)of running a front loader over the beach grass
leaving ruts. Even though they did not do it, they paid to have it hand raped just to get rid o
the problem. He is looking for assurances from the Town that we won't screw up the spit in
Page 3 of 6
