 t
Town Nlashpee
6 Great Seck Road worth
Nlashpee, Massachusetts 02649
L@
Pin I
January 24, 1997 ir
ti 9--
S trealo vsy& H it
1 forth Street ]#•ir", i :x : .
i
ingharrr, Ma. 02043
Attn. Roger Ho it
Ike: Ilashpee Town Hall Renovations
Lower Level Storage Area
Dear Mr. Hoit,
I have received your letter of Janes 22, 1997. You state the lover level
designed as storage is not designed as"habitable or occupiable" space, does not need t
comply with code ceiling height and is suitable for storage.
The use was intended to be occupied as a Uve storage goon with accessibility for
departments havmng storage bins for their less used files. Your architect's detail 1 A2.3
shows a floor elevation of 23.98 feet with a dimension of 8.33 feet to the underside of the
first floor and it shows a flat floor for the whole storage area, when you subtract the tern
inches for the bar joist it leaves a headroom clearance of 7.5 feet which would have net
requirements for habitable storage. Further the piping instead of being installed in the bar
joists was installed below leaving a headroom of 5 foot 10 inches at the base of the stair.
The space does not meet the detail as laid out in your plans, it is a dead space that
can be used for storage. As built,I do not have code requirements which have to be met
and the intended use of the space and edge in design is a natter for the Town Hall
Building Committee and the Board of Selectmen.
Sincerely,
Wi l- •
v'liam
F. Hauch
Inspector of Buildings
