{ <br /> Discussion: FY-12 Tonnage from John Elliot <br /> Chairman Elliot reported an increase of 6,417 tons in 2012 compared to 2011. Total tonnage for <br /> FY 2012 was 35,795 tons, 1,205 tons short of the 40,000 ton commitment. Ms. Laurent <br /> expressed the Board's thanks to SElVMASS who lowered the commercial rate to the residential <br /> rate, allowing for the increased tonnage. Ms. Laurent reported that SEMAS S would continue to <br /> offer the reduced rate and would provide 30 days' notice should the rate change. <br /> Discussion: Holiday 'Tonnage from John Elliot <br /> Chairman Elliott stated that he had tracked the holiday tonnage since July 4, 2011 and reported <br /> the figures as follows: <br /> July 4, 2011-97 tons (Cavossa 9 loads) <br /> Labor Day 120 tons (Cavossa 10 loads, Allied 2 loads, wM 1 load) <br /> President's Day-33 tons (Cavossa 3 loads, Allied 1 load, wM 1 load) <br /> Patriot's Day-61 tons (Cavossa 3 loads, Allied 3 loads, WM 1 load) <br /> Memorial Day 158 tons (Total 20 loads) <br /> July 4, 2012-92 tons (Cavossa 9 loads, Allied 1 loads) <br /> Totals are commercial and residential. <br /> The Chair suggested closing the facility on President's and Patriot's Day given the reduced <br /> tonnage received on those days. Ms. Laurent noted that many of the local transfer station would <br /> be open, adding that Mashpee closed only on July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's <br /> Day. Ms. Laurent inquired about paying Holiday rates to employees on those days and Mr. Jack <br /> responded that he would need to inquire further. Aft. Jack suggested that the cost to remain open <br /> was likely not significant. The Chair reported that typical daily tonnage totaled 150--200 tons. <br /> Mr. Sullivan stated that summer holidays were the busiest times and that trash could not be kept <br /> waiting in trucks, whereas spring,would allow for more flexibility. Mr. Tilton stated that <br /> Sandwich was also open on President's and Patriot's Day and suggested that if tonnage was <br /> reduced on those days, the UCRTS facility could possibly be closed. There was also discussion <br /> about Martin Luther Ding Day. Chairman Elliott indicated that he would look into it further and <br /> discuss the issue at the next meeting. <br /> Update: Mass Coastal from Chris Podgurski <br /> Mr. Podgurski was not present to discuss Mass Coastal. <br /> Update: Scale Repair <br /> The Chair reported that he was in contact with Fairbanks Morse regarding the scale, which had <br /> been hit by lightning on June 26. There had been a delay, but the company was expected to be <br /> on site tomorrow to repair the scale. while the scale was down, trucks were weighed at other <br /> locations. <br /> 2 <br />
