He stated that they lair out all of these systems <br /> beforehand so as to not encounter any problems. Jim asked if there was one person at <br /> D nham & Sweeney that the subcontractor or general contractor would contact should <br /> they encounter problems. Mr. Sweeney reviewed the procedure for resolving these <br /> hypes of problems. He stated that there would be a project architect assigned to this <br /> project from the beginning to end. Jim asked Mr. Sweeney how he envisioned the <br /> timeframe a for this project. Jiro stated that they were planning on awarding the contract <br /> n July 24th. Mr. Sweeney stated that it would probably take a month to get through <br /> the schematic design and present a realistic cost to the Committee. He-stated that the <br /> review and approval of the design development and thea the preparation for the <br /> construction documents would be about sic weeiks. He stated that also they would <br /> have about two and a half months of preparing the actual construction documents <br /> that they could then go out to bid. He stated that the total time to the beginning of <br /> actual construction would be about sic months. Bob Fox asked if the Committee would <br /> have any input into the contractors or subcontractors. Nor. Sweeney replied that they <br /> would have input on the general contractor but that the general dntractor carries the <br /> subcontractors. Jim asked if Donham & Sweeney handles all of the pre--bid <br /> conferences. Mr. Sweeney replied that they would. ,.Jim asked if the Project Architect <br /> would be attending the Town Hall Building Committee meetings. Mr. Screener replied <br /> that he would. Jinn asked who they would be using as a mechanical consultant. Mr. <br /> Sweeney Mated that they planned on using Thompson Consultants. <br /> ,Jim asked Mr. Sweeney if he had any closing remarks. Mr. Sweeney Mated that he <br /> hoped his firm had lived up to the Committee's expectations as this was a job that they <br /> would like to do. <br /> After Mr. Sweeney had left, Jiro asked for the Committee members' opinions and <br /> comments. Charlie Mated that he wondered if the location of the meeting room in the <br /> basement was a good idea. Greg thought that Mr. Sweeney had trouble going from the <br /> $3 million budget to the $1.5 million budget. Jing agreed and Mated that he felt that <br /> because Nor. Sweeney was involved in the Town meeting, that he was trying to react to <br /> the problem of no one wanting to be moved into the basement. Jinn also Mated that he <br /> felt they did not have the money to do the new roof now. Greg was concerned that Mr. <br /> Sweeney did not bring the Project Architect or any consultants with hire to the <br /> presentation. Greg felt that Mr. Sweene is flexible approach was on the verge of being <br /> loose. He was also not pleased with a variable air heating system. Greg stated he did <br /> not like the layout of the administrative offices. Jiro agreed and stated that the original <br /> floor plan was better. Jinn Mated that the programmable issues could be addressed if <br /> Donharn & Sweeney were receptive to the Committee suggestions as they had been in <br /> the past. <br /> The Committee discussed the pros and cons to all of the firms interviewed. .Jim stated <br /> that they needed to pick three to bring to the Selectmen and asked for the Committee <br /> members' choices in ranking order. <br />
