d <br /> SHP E TOWN HALL BUILDING COMMITTEE <br /> Minutes for July 1 , 1995 <br /> Page <br /> Jim reported that he had made two calls regarding Donham and Sweeney, one to the <br /> Chairman of the Building Committee on the Carlisle Town Hall project. Jim stated that <br /> they reported to him the following- <br /> That <br /> ll wing-That the project had started with a different architect; <br /> There had been a very high powered committee, with two architects a <br /> members,ber , and the committee members had reported that D nham and Sweeney <br /> had been terrific; <br /> Donham and Sweeney had assisted thea in getting the project through their <br /> Torn meeting and that they are now putting the bid speCifiC2tions together; <br /> • The first draft had been completed with very little changes; <br /> • From what they had seen so far, they were happy with Donham and Sweeney. <br /> Jinn reported that the second call he made was to the Facilities Manager at the <br /> Cambridge City Hall and was told the following: <br /> • The Facilities Manager had started working there after the project was already <br /> under gray, but to his knowledge the design work was fine; <br /> • He stated the renovations had not gone well; <br /> • They do not feel that they are getting the kind of service that they wanted t <br /> have; <br /> • He stated he did not feel the proper supervision was being given to the project; <br /> • If they had to go through the selection process again, they would consider <br /> D nham and Sweeney again. <br /> Jim stated he also called the retired City..Ar bite t regarding the Cambridge City Hall <br /> project and was told the following: <br /> • H .stated he swears by Donham and Sweeney; <br /> • They had spent a It of time dealing with each department heed and everyone <br /> was happy with the design; <br /> • He stated he feels that the problems were money related. <br /> Greg reported that he had called the Walpole Town Manager regarding the Town Hall <br /> the project that StrekaI ovsky"and H o it had worked on and was to Id the fo II owing: <br /> • In general, they were pleased with the work that Strekalvky and Hit; <br /> • They had used Strek l vsky and H it for other projects in the town, including <br /> feasibility studies and the renovation to a school; <br /> • Stated they followed through during construction and they have been very goods <br /> • Currently have therm under contract to do additional work for their torn. <br /> Bob vhriten ur reported he had called Bill Williams, Town Manager in Mansfield, <br /> regarding the projects Strekalovsky and Hoit had completed for therm including a <br /> conversion of their elementary school into their Town Hall, a new fire station, and a <br /> third project underway, transforming the former Town Hall into a police station. Bob <br /> reported he was told the following: <br />
