additional mitigation required by the alterations from the previously approved plan. He noted
the changes on the plan provided. He stated the patio will be constructed on dry laid granite
pavers and the reason for the expansion is to add a gas fire pit where it does not conflict with
the swimming pool uses and to move the cooking area between the cabana and house. The
pool equipment will be on a concrete slab moved closer to the top of the rip rap wall farther
from the abutter's house. He reviewed the previously proposed mitigation as well as the
additional mitigation. He stated they believe this request complies with the performance
standards of the wetland regulations and improves the habitat.
Public Comment
Marshall Price, abutter, was opposed to the pool equipment where it was originally proposed.
The Agent noted the approved plan of record which showed the pool house and the pool
equipment location.
The Agent asked about the waiver requirements for the patio area. He said they have
proposed mitigation but there also needs to be a demonstration of compelling need for the fire
pit/patio extension proposed to be closer to the top of coastal bank. He suggested eliminating
the proposed patio/fire pit extension and finding another area for it within the previously
approved patio layout. Following a lengthy discussion, Mr. Garulay suggested extending the
line straight to the pool house rather than bumping it out closer to the resource area, so that no
part of the patio extension would be closer to the resource areas. There was also a discussion
on the storm drains and the need to keep the water on the property.
Motion: Mr. Sweet moved to approve the AOOC as requested with the exception of the
seaward side of the pool apron needs to be a continued parallel line to the edge of the
pool with a new plan to be submitted to the Conservation Agent for approval which he
will show to the Commissioners. Seconded by Mr. O'Neill. Vote 3-1 with Mr. Dalton
voting in the negative.
6:24 E. Michael & Arlene Sullivan 404 Monomoscoy Road. Proposed installation of coir
logs for erosion control. She explained the proposal
involves erosion control measures and the restoration of the tidal bank to prevent further
erosion and deterioration of the salt marsh at the existing dock location on Great River. The
proposal is the installation of two ten-foot lengths of coir for a twenty-two-foot distance at the
bottom of the eroded bank in front of the dock access and on both sides where the erosion has
