Marie Stevenson, Winnie Johnson-Graham, Gail Wilson, Lynne Waterman, JoAnn <br /> Nadeau, Louis Horner, Elana Doyle,Katherine Brown, Patty DeBoer, Xavier Gonsalves (Non-Voting Member) <br /> Also Present: Kim Landry-Affirmative Action Officer <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> The meeting was called to order by the Chair. The Chair thanked Ms. Johnson-Graham for chairing the last <br /> meeting. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES March 12,2019 <br /> MOTION: Ms. Waterman made a motion to approve. Ms. Doyle seconded the motion. All voted <br /> unanimously. <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> None at this time <br /> COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Mashpee resident, Wayne Lobo, an active member of the Cape Verdean Club, was joining today's <br /> meeting to learn more about the Committee's work. <br /> The Chair confirmed that the Committee had been in receipt of a communication from town resident <br /> Barbara Brant, who expressed interest in learning more about the work of the Committee. The Chair directed <br /> her to the MIDC web page and invited her to attend a future meeting. <br /> In addition, Barbara Burgo, resident of Brewster and curator of the newly coordinated Cape Verdean <br /> Museum and Cultural Center, had reached out to the Committee. Currently working with David Vierra, the <br /> Committee may consider offering their support to Center in the future. Mr. Lobo provided additional <br /> information to the Chair. The group was seeking a grant to offer the program "Reading Frederick Douglas" on <br /> Friday, July 5 at the Falmouth Historical Society. <br /> The Chair confirmed that Mr. McNamara from Holistic Health Group, had been in receipt of a letter, as <br /> advised by the Town Manager, that Mr. McNamara's interests were not within the purview of the Committee. <br /> The Chair had been in contact with Ms. Farrell at Mashpee High School about sending a future group of <br /> students to the Human Rights Academy next year, as no Mashpee students attended this year. The next meeting <br /> would be in May. Ms. Wilson, a member of the Human Right Commission, commented that it was unclear <br /> about the status of the program for next year due to a new Ordinance being written for the Commission. The <br /> Chair wished to continue to work with Ms. Farrell regarding student involvement, adding that some students <br /> from the Tribal Youth Council had previously expressed interest. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Veterans Parking-Mr. Horner reported that Ms. Doyle had shared the Welcome Home Bonus to <br /> Mashpee Messaging, with a positive response. Mr. Horner has met again with Dan Doppler and Major Quilty. <br /> Major Quilty expressed interest in the Veterans parking and planned to share the concept in a 15 district <br /> meeting and inquire whether others were offering something similar. Mr. Horner met with Selectman Cotton to <br /> share the results of his initial meeting with the Town Manager. Selectman Cotton indicated that he would <br />
