He also proposed beach nourishment <br /> with washed sand spread by hand. <br /> The Agent showed photos of the trees on the property and the area of the proposed <br /> beach nourishment. He stated it was important to keep the sand separate from the <br /> pond. He noted he did see the dead wood on the oaks and stated the pines are leaning <br /> and diseased with turpentine beetle. He asked that the trees be tagged and inspected <br /> by the staff before their removal. He also suggested a low-profile retaining wall be <br /> installed to keep the sand way from the pond. <br /> Motion: Mr. Sweet moved to Close and Issue, seconded by Mr. Dalton. He explained the <br /> proposed project is on the extension of Simons Narrow Road to remove overgrowth <br /> over existing pavement to restore roadway to full/original width and replace existing <br /> decking on pier, as necessary, and install handrail. He noted the dock is a licensed <br /> dock under Chapter 91. The limit of work will consist of silt fence with sediment roll to <br /> be installed prior to any work. Once the work is finished, they will put in a second <br /> sediment roll to capture any drainage. They are not proposing to do any work beyond <br /> that at this time. He noted the area on the plan provided. The project meets all of the <br /> performance standards. <br /> The Agent asked if there were any road layout plans available in history to indicate what <br /> the original layout was. Mr. Costa stated there were no plans. He said this work has <br /> minor environmental impact. The Agent showed the area on photos and noted the <br /> Japanese honey suckle and Phragmites. He noted the shellfish constable and the <br /> harbormaster has signed off. <br /> Mr. Costa noted the abutters were concerned and he assured them they are only doing <br /> exploratory work at this time. <br /> No comment from the public <br /> Motion: Mr. Sweet moved a Negative Determination, seconded by Mr. Dalton. <br /> Vote unanimous 4-0 <br />
