The Agent updated the Commissioners of what took place at the State portion of the beach. Due to
recent storm damage it created erosion which created an access hazard. The Assistant Agent wenl
out to the site to monitor any shorebird activities and she assisted DPW to recreate the sand and the
profile which was done in 45 minutes. There was a sharp drop off in grade at the bottom of the
access steps and DPW was able to take care of it quickly.
Update: NRCS review of Santuit Pond fish ladder: 4/26/19 meeting at the Fish ladder at 9:15
a.m.
The Agent stated he met with NRCS and stated they have been doing assessments at the ladder at
different times. He invited the Commissioners to meet on 4/26 at 9:15 a.m. at the site. He said he
was interviewed by NRCS on how he has been dealing with the fish ladder which is a constant
maintenance adjustment throughout the season. His main point is to make the ladder more
adjustable. He said right now the fish are getting up in decent numbers because of adjustments
made by himself, Assistant Agent and Marine Fisheries.
Update: 87 Hooppole Road Mitigation
The Agent updated the Commissioners on 87 Hooppole Road Mitigation. He said this was
addressed through an order of conditions for the removal of a non-compliant lawn, required
mitigation plantings and authorizing a sandy beach/stone retaining wall that had been created
without permitting. He has been in touch with the landscaper and he said the project will be done in
the next couple of weeks. His overriding concerns are the lack of proof of a signed 5-year monitorinc
and maintenance contract from a certified landscaper. He stated he has sent a certified letter to the
homeowner and, in the letter, it states they have to respond within 5 days of receipt or they will be
fined on a daily basis until we receive a response. He said there is no reason for an extension at
this time. They have known for over two years what they have to do.
Motion: Mr. Sweet moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Dalton. Vote unanimous 4-0 Meeting
adjourned 7:35 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Judy Daigneault, Recording Secretary
