Thompson
Request: To construct a 150 ft. tall monopole personal wireless service
facility within a 70' x 70' fenced compound to the east of the existing
Mashpee Fire Station #2 with the antennas and equipment of Verizon
Wireless and T-Mobile all as shown on the plan.
Attorney Liz Thompson, represented the applicant Blue Sky Towers, and introduced Jesse
Moreno with ProTerra Design Group to present the proposed cell tower to be located at
the Mashpee Fire Station#2. Mr. Moreno said that the location was a result of an RFP that
was won by Blue Sky Towers to install the cell tower on Town property. Its located on a
30 acre site in between Red Brook Road and Blue Castle Drive, and shared with the
Mashpee Fire Station#2.
Mr. Moreno provided detailed site plans depicting the specific project information. He said
the.location of the tower will be on the west end of the site approximately 180 feet east of
the existing fire station. He said the proposal consists of using the existing access driveway
of the fire station back to the rear of the facility which is a 175 ft. gravel driveway to 100'x
100' leased area. Inside of that area will be a 70' x 70' fenced compound. Within the
compound there will be a 150 ft. monopole tower. At the base of the compound is 4 to 6
inches of stone. He said there are two tenants; Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile that are
interested and will be situated in the compound area that is surrounded by a 6 ft.chain link
fence.
The tower itself is a tapered steel monopole structure that has the two carriers with room
for a couple more plus the Town's EMS system. The site itself is similar to the RFP. There
is not much clearance required around the fire station. The area has no wetlands identified
on the property, it is not on a flood plain, and it will not be disturbing any habitat. There will
be very little landscaping. There is vegetation on the north, south and east, and the fire
1
