Project Address: 31 Maple Street (continued]
Glen Harrington asked if office exists right now. Jennifer Fazio responded that it is office space right
now; there is nothing in the clinic area, which was probably a family room or utility room; and she said
nothing is to be built out.
Glen questioned access for clients...Jennifer Fazio said handicap accessibility will be through the
garage.
Glen noted this property is 3-bedroom in Zone II but with limited use there are no septic issues.
However, approval needs to be restricted to this owner so it is not transferable.
Glen said Applicant does not need a license from the Board of Health; she is exempt because she is
a licensed therapist and is working for medical reasons.
Tom Fudala said though not mentioned in the Application this is for use described under Section 174-
25.1 (5). He said it has to be decided if this use is subject to that Section.
Jack Phelan asked if fire extinguishers and lighting are at exits. Jack also asked if Co detectors and
smoke detectors were in place since area is adjacent to the garage. Jennifer Fazio responded "yes".
Jack asked if a smoke detector is at the base of the stairwell going to the second floor. Jennifer Fazio
said it is directly above the stairs.
Mike Mendoza advised that he and Jack Phelan should visit the Site to check that all conditions are
met, which is required before issuing Certificate of occupancy.
Comments from the Audience
Don Macdonald of 13 Maple Street, Mashpee, addressed the meeting. He said the Board already
answered several of their questions.
• License not transferable to another owner was their first question, which was answered.
• Can this be licensed to a non-owner of the property? Response: "yes", because Applicant is
the primary occupant.
• Any structural change going to be made to the front of the property? Jennifer Fazio responded
"no", only doorbell being added.
• Are your services covered by insurance? Jennifer Fazio said "no", just credit card, check, or
cash.
• Any weekend hours? Response: no weekends only through the week.
Mike Mendoza commented that the Committee does recognize that a residential neighborhood has a
particular character and that's why any license issued is non-transferable.
Mary Ellen and Don Macdonald thanked the Committee.
2
