*DRAFT* 4-29-2019 Board of Selectmen MINUTES* 4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> April 29, 2019 <br /> JOINT SESSION- ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISCUSSIONS <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT (continued) <br /> Mashpee resident and Finance Committee member, Andrew Gregory McKelvey indicated that <br /> a part of development is infrastructure. This keeps families and those employed in the Town of <br /> Mashpee, and it makes a better community. How the Town handles our wastewater facilities in <br /> p <br /> the future is a challenge. Mr. McKelveyecommended the Town look at broader solutions that <br /> Y <br /> are affordable, and not break the Town financially. It was requested the projections related to <br /> wastewater assumptions be made public for transparency and for full disclosure. A <br /> recommended solution is to work with Joint Base Cape Cod regionally with the support of <br /> neighboring Cape communities. <br /> In continuing his comments, Mr. McKelveyndicated that communication in all segments is <br /> g Y <br /> equally important. A brief discussion followed regarding the importance of cell towers <br /> q Y p <br /> especially in South Mashpee where it is a matter of public safety. At the start of Mr. <br /> McKelvey's comments regarding cell towers, members of the Planning Board attending the <br /> workshopleft the meeting. In closing Mr. McKelvey indicated the Board of Selectmen should <br /> g g <br /> listen to the people to get a fair voice for those who live in the Town of Mashpee. <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PRESENTATIONSIDISCUSSION <br /> Bonvie Homes: Ronald Bonvie Local Developer: <br /> Ronald Bonvie, a Mashpee resident and local developer of the Southport 55+ and over <br /> community completed leted 73 9 homes with 11 remaining to construct. The well-designed and <br /> p <br /> popular development is enhanced by a 9-hole golf course, club house and treatment plant. <br /> The Southport Community design/development ranlc-ed in the top tier of the 55+communities in <br /> the country, <br /> Mr, Bonvie also offers his experience to the Mashpee community by serving as a member of the <br /> Planning Board. In reviewing demographics in Massachusetts, Mr. Bonvie indicated his career <br /> in the construction industry focuses on developing homes in the 55+market. <br /> At this time Mr. Bonvie indicated he is prepared to meet the demographics of the Mashpee <br /> communit while looking forward to the need for workf <br /> Y orce housing. It was suggested the Town <br /> consider additional land in Mashpee that would not negatively impact the community. For <br /> consideration is the 6.19 parcel located on Commercial Street that was once considered for a <br /> hotel/motel. This property could potentially site 120 homes,possibly 70-80 rental units and 30- <br /> p p Y p Y <br /> 40 workforce housing units, 10% of which would be deemed affordable. As a developer, Mr. <br /> Bonvie stated he has an interest in developing this property. <br />
