DRAFT 4-22-19 Board of Selectmen MINUTES* 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> April 22, 2019 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Certification of Hiring Process for the Following: <br /> Firefi hterlParamedic- Christopher Roguzac; Firefighter/EMT- Christian Gardiner: <br /> Fire Chief Tom Rullo was in attendance to recommend the appointment of Christopher Roguzac as <br /> Firefighter/Paramedic and Christian Gardiner as Firefighter/EMT. Both candidates reside in the Town of <br /> Mashpee. Twelve individuals were interviewed by a three person panel. Appointments are recommended <br /> at Step 1, the entry level pay grade. <br /> Motion made by Selectman O'Hara to appoint Christopher Roguzac and Christian Gardiner to the <br /> Mashpee Fire Department respectfully as Firefighter/Paramedic and FirefighterlEMT. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton, <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes opposed, none <br /> With regards to the applicant pool, it was noted the list of candidates tends to fluctuate on a yearly basis. <br /> Discussion and Approval of the Following Special Event Temporary-Sign Permit and One-Da Li uor <br /> License: Annual Beach and Back half-Marathon: Racewire: <br /> Kelly Houten was present on behalf of RaceWire to request approval of the annual Beach and Back Half <br /> Marathon and 5k on Sunday, June 9, 2019 with.a 5:00'a.m. set up, 8:00 a.m., start and an 11:30 p.m. end <br /> time (projected). <br /> The half marathon(13.1 miles) would begin at the intersection of Donna's Lane and Great Neck Road <br /> South to the South Cape Beach parking lot and back. This is the third year of this event in the Town of <br /> Mashpee. Spectators and others will be instructed to park near the start/finish line and parr at the <br /> Mashpee Middle/High School where a shuttle bus would provide transport. <br /> A One-Day Liquor License (beer and wine) and a Temporary Sign Permit is also requested for the Special <br /> Event Application. Naukabout Brewery is the beer sponsor for the event. The post-race gathering will be <br /> held in Mashpee Commons. Signage would consist of A-frame mile markers along the 5k and half <br /> marathon route, 23"x26". <br /> It was disclosed there have been several calls from concerned with regards to this event. Most of the races <br /> approved by the Board of Selectmen are for nonprofit organizations. Racewire is for profit, charging <br /> fees; $40 for the 5k and $65 for the half marathon. Approximately 1,000 runners are expected, a 30% <br /> decrease from previous years. <br /> 5 <br />
