Town of Nashpee
16 Great J%ck`f{oact,North
ot ' Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
,si
Conservation Commission Minutes
Thursday, February 14, 2019
Mashpee Town Hall
Waquoit Meeting Room
PRESENT: Dale McKay, Brad Sweet, Tom O'Neill, Chad Smith, Charles Dalton, Steve
Cook (Associate Member) and Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent and Katelyn
Cadoret, Assistant Conservation Agent
CALL MEETING TO ORDER: 6:00 p.m.
Chairman Dale McKay opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m.
No Comment from the Public
PRE/POST-HEARING AGENDA:
Minutes; Approve January 24, 2019 Minutes
Motion: Mr. Sweet moved to approve the January 24, 2019 minutes, seconded by Chad Smith.
Vote 5-0
Signatures: Letter of Endorsement for Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Program
Katelyn Cadoret stated most towns on the Cape are currently involved with the MVP Program. The
State is looking for interest from the towns to prepare for climate change. We are in the first phase and
that would entail us submitting letters of support for involvement in the program. Falmouth and
Sandwich programs are almost done which will be comparable to Mashpee. One of the first steps is to
have a workshop. Once the concerns are established for each town, then we can formerly request
funds to address these issues. The Agent said the program is being taken advantage of by a lot of the
Cape Towns and for this round there is a guaranteed funding for the training and the workshops.
Eventually, it puts us in a better position for grant funding for climate change projects. We will keep the
Commissioners up-to-date but it does require the Commissioners signature of endorsement.
IT Pricing Quote: Proposal to purchase tablets for each Commissioner's use at the meetings.
The Agent stated he has inquired about the possibility of acquiring tablets for the Commissioners to
help cut down on paperwork at the meetings which would also allow them to have the capability of
logging in for regulations. There is a price quote from IT for$1,246 for 7 tablets. The funding would
come out of the conservation revolving account. Following a discussion, it was decided to hold off the
decision until the next meeting.
