Christi represented herself for the proposal requesting a
designated location for dog training. She currently provides her client's dog training at their
homes and in other communities. She specializes in dog agility and scent training.
Mike Mendoza, Building Commissioner asked how many dogs would be at the facility:
Christi responded that for group training there will be no more than six(6), possibly eight
(8)dogs. She said that only three(3) dogs at a time will be boarded for training.
Scott Carline, Police Chief asked Christi what her strategies would be to minimize the
noise, and prevent dogs from getting loose.
Christi responded that she sometimes has clients with reactive and aggressive dogs; she
would have her client move away at that particular moment to another area. She said she
would also provide visual barriers inside the building training area. She said she can usually
tell within a few minutes of training when a dog will settle down, or would require private
training. Depending upon the off-site training area, she will have her client's walk the dog
away and settle their own dog. She said that her client's dogs are leashed. She said she
mostly trains aggressive dogs at her client's homes to see how the dogs react in their own
environment. She would generally not have an aggressive dog at her facility, and would
have one person handling each dog.
Catherine Laurent, DPW Director asked if all of the training is inside, and if there is also an
exterior area. Christi responded; "yes inside", but would occasionally walk to an outside
area on a weekend at the cul-de-sac on Nicoletta's.
Christi said that 99% of her training is inside the building.
1
