as to how long is it going to stay cleared and who is going to monitor the erosion control and
how often and there is no timeline on when they will be doing drainage improvements. The
Agent stated he called the applicant and issued a verbal stop work order and informed him
he had to come back to the commission to answer some of these questions. They will revise
their application and come back in.
The Agent explained to the applicant, if the commission encounters a permit which was
issued and you see something that might result in an adverse impact to a resource area, the
commission has every right to step in and issue conditions to ensure that the resource areas
are not adversely impacted. He said we are not trying to put a stop to the project but we are
trying to protect the resource areas. The commissioners are empowered to revoke or modify
or require any information that comes across your agenda at any time.
The Agent stated the applicant will be coming back to the commissioners with a new plan.
Discussion: Osprey platform on Conservation land at 77 Whippoorwill Circle
The Agent gave an update on the Osprey platform at 77 Whippoorwill Circle. He stated the
purpose of the request was to authorize the platform. He wanted to make who ever is going
to construct the platform knows what they are doing because of the salt marsh. He reached
out to Marine Tech and they said they would be willing to build the platform. He did inform
Cass and Marlene who at the last meeting stated they would pay for the installation but
asked the commissioners, if necessary, if they wished to assist with the cost since the
platform will be installed on Conservation Land. The Agent would check on the cost and
bring this back to the commissioners at the next meeting.
Update: Assistant Conservation Agent
The Assistant Agent stated she recently did some vernal pool certification work with
AmeriCorps at John's Pond and Santuit Pond a collected data to certify them. She noted it
was a great learning experience.
The Assistant Agent stated spring time Pollinator maintenance is going on.
The Herring Count Program is going on. It has been fun and informative and successful.
She will be doing a clean up at John's Pond and dumping has not been much of an issue.
She has been assisting DNR with oyster seed bags.
Mashpee Wildlife Mashpee news —the trail book and the maps are almost done.
The Environmental Oversight Committee is working on a helium balloon ban.
Review: Town Hall Meeting
The Agent stated we got unanimous approval for both articles for CPA funding $320,000 for
the Upper Quashnet which will be added to the $884,00 from the Air Force which should
cover the planning, permitting and construction and $240,000 for the Charles River.
