1 7V Town of Nashpee <br /> 3c,�/\�+'�•.�.�'*���� istor4.cal RJf B[.f nissiL9 <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649 <br /> Telephone - (508) 539-1438 <br /> November 14, 2018 <br /> MASHPEE HISTORICAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting — November 8, 2018 <br /> The Mashpee Historical Commission meeting was called to order by Ava Costello, <br /> Chair, at 4:09 pm. <br /> Commissioners Present: Ava Costello, Richard DeSorgher, Brian Hyde, Nancy <br /> Soderberg and Joan Tavares-Avant. <br /> Commissioner not Present: Rosemary Burns Love <br /> Guest: Brian Weeden, Applicant for vacancy on the Mashpee Historical Commission <br /> Brian greeted our Commission in his native Wampanoag language. He informed us of <br /> his present job responsibilities working in Language and Youth Programs with the <br /> Aquinnah Tribe over on Martha's Vineyard during the week. He is also involved in the <br /> Mashpee Tribal youth Advisory Committee, Chairman of the annual Pow Wow <br /> Committee, and very active in many other Tribal community activities <br /> Joan made a motion that we approve Brian as a Commissioner, and Richard seconded <br /> the motion, and he was unanimously approved. <br /> Joan moved to approve the minutes from our Meeting on October 25, 2018, meeting. <br /> Richard asked that they be amended to include the wording "which would be presented <br /> annually" to the description of the Mashpee Historical Preservation award. The motion <br /> was seconded by Nancy. <br /> During this past week, Rich, Ava and Ann removed items from the schoolhouse which <br /> are stored in the basement of the Archives during the winter. Frank Lord will notify <br /> Catherine Laurent that it is alright to board up the doors for the coming winter months. <br /> We will purchase a small vacuum to aid in cleaning the schoolhouse from time to time. <br /> Catherine had Fowler and Sons spray the schoolhouse for insects this past fall. <br /> Richard researched our additional AV technology needs - an LCD projector and <br /> computer setup, a screen and base, a cart and display table, which will cost about <br /> $2,800, and we will be expensing this cost in our current fiscal year's budget. He met <br /> with Ken Taylor to discuss purchasing this new equipment. Ken had sent us his <br />
