-2-
recommendations for purchasing this equipment which we reviewed. Ann will call
Accounting to find out how to handle the allocation of this purchase since we will need a
requisition for it, as well as Town Manager approval for the expense since it is over
$1,000.
Ava and Richard met with Wayne Taylor, Assistant Town Manager, Catherine Laurent,
Director of the DPW, and Kathleen M. Lynch, RLA, Senior Landscape Architect with
Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc., (VHB), to discuss the planning for the War Memorial
project that they have been working on for the past year. Ava and Rich were presenting
the proposed costs associated with the new Veterans Park development and the VHB
Contract to the CPC at a meeting scheduled at Town Hall for 7:OOpm that evening. The
Town Manager was expected to sign the contract that evening, and VHB will meet with
the group again around the first of December and deliver their preliminary plans.
Rich would like to open up the design of the Monument to the community so that we
have local artists compete for the design of the War Memorial(s) to express the history
of Mashpee. Ms. Lynch has suggested that the park benches be decorated with seals
of the various branches of the service.
We would also like to have someone work on Mashpee historical displays at the Post
Office, and perhaps other community locations.
We proposed our next meeting to be held on Thursday, December 20th, at 4:OOpm.
Brian made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:45pm. Richard seconded the motion.
6t
Submitted by: Ann Graham, Sr. Clerk
