*DRAFT*Board of Selectmen Minutes June 17, 2019 APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS QUartment of Public works Director Catherine Laurent: Discussion of New Recycling Procedures at the Transfer Station: Catherine Laurent, DPW Director was in attendance to review the separation and implementation plan for the recycling program changes at the Transfer Station. As recommended and supported by the Board,the single stream recycling is separated into 5 streams; glass, cans, newspaper,mixed paper and plastic. For ease of distinction, all recycling will be blue. New signage will emphasize with graphics what each container is used for. Bins will be fully accessible. It was recommended that a speed bump be incorporated into the layout of the recycling area for safety. Advo'rtisement on the Town's website and in the local newspaper will clarify the.process for the users of the recycling area. The proposed new recycling program will minimize costs to the Town for recycling and minimize the amount of separation required. Grant funding assisted with the purchase of the rolloff bins. The Town is obligated to comply with MA DEP waste ban regulations and with the new changes,the overall cost to the Town will be less for trash disposal. OLD BUSINESS Discussion and Aroyal of a S ecial Event&Tem orar Sign Permit: continued from June 3 2019 Communijy Health Center of Cape Cod Inaugural 5K.Run/Walk-August ust 13 2019 Date ma chaPl e : Christopher Ellis: At their last meeting, the Board of Selectmen agreed to continue discussions regarding the proposed 5k run/walk sponsored by the Community Health Center of Cape Cod. Christopher Ellis was present to further review the proposal and to address concerns expressed by the Board of Selectmen regarding traffic and adequate notice to the community. To allow for more planning time, itis the recommendation of the Community Health Center to defer the race event date to Tuesday,May 19, 2020 with a start time of 6:00 p.m. The date deferral would allow for ample notice of the race to local residents and ensure the complete review and support by the Mashpee Police Department. The route is essentially the same starting on Connnerci al Street to Mercantile and down Great Neck Road South; 1.55 miles and return to the Community Health Center. Motion made by Selectman O'Hara to approve the amended version of the Special Event& Temporary Sign Permit Application of the Community Health Center of Cape Cod Inaugural 5k Run/Walk on Tuesday,May 19, 2020 starting at 6:00 p.m, as presented.
