Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 8, 2019 <br /> Special Event and Temporary Sign Permit Applications: South Shore Race, 3.4 Mile Run for Cancer, <br /> October 12 2019 - South Shore Race Management, Heather Manuel: <br /> A Special Event Application was before the Board from Heather Manuel of South Shore Race <br /> Management requesting to hold a 3.4 mile walk/run for Cancer on Saturday, October 12, 2019. The <br /> race is proposed to begin and finish at Heritage Park from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Temporary <br /> Sign Permit Application is for no more than (10) 12x12 directional signage to be placed along the <br /> course route. <br /> Proceeds from this event will benefit the Mugar Cancer Center at Cape Cod Hospital. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to approve the Special Event Application and Temporary <br /> Sign Permit for the 3.4 Mile Run for Cancer as presented subject to applicable regulatory <br /> approval. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed, none <br /> Special Event Application: Act for Well Being Spike Ball Tournament, August 8, 2019— <br /> Mashpee Recreation, Heidi McLaughlin: <br /> Heidi McLaughlin was in attendance representing the Mashpee Recreation Department requesting the <br /> Board approve the Special Event Application for the Act for Well Being Spike Ball Tournament <br /> proposed to be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at South Cape Beach from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. <br /> The free event would promote physical activity and environmental awareness. Eligibility for play in <br /> the tournament requires participants to pick-up at least one handful of trash prior to playing. The <br /> tournament will not interfere with the patrons on the beach. <br /> The concept was brought to the Mashpee Recreation Department by former lifeguard Cece <br /> Piermattei-Ozak. Her mission is to provide a space that inspires a continued effort towards achieving <br /> a better quality of life among individuals and their community. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to approve the Special Event Application of the <br /> Recreation Department to hold the Act for Well Being Spike Ball Tournament as presented and <br /> subject to regulatory approval. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed, none <br /> 13 <br />
