*DRAFT* BOS MINUTES JULY 22, 2019 7
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
July 22, 2019
APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS
Discussion and Approval of Award of Contract for Storage Clara e for the De artrnent of Public
Works: Catherine Laurent:
Catherine Laurent, Director of Public Works was in attendance to recommend the Board award a
contract for the pre-engineering storage garage for the DPW to Collins Construction Co., Inc. in the
amount of$174,050.
Ms. Laurent indicated the project was bid on three occasions. No bids were received with the first
issuance of a RFP. The second and third RFP received one bid response, same bidder. The pre-
engineered storage garage for construction, a 42x60' building to be located at the DPW would house
small equipment currently kept outdoors. Equipment to be stored includes chippers, tractors and
smaller equipment generally left without protection from the elements.
The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Committee approved and recommended a budget of
$125,000 to the May 2018 Town Meeting. The overage was approved by the CIP earlier this month.
The balance of the 174,050 project would be paid through funds available in the CIP bond to move the
project forward.
Town Manager Rodney C. Collins recommended approval. The DPW has articulated the need for
additional storage, and this project has been in the CIP for a number of years. It was noted the third
bid represented a 14% decrease from the second bid although the cost is in excess of the initial CIP
funding,
Motion made by Selectman Cotton to award a contract for the DPW Storage Garage to Collins
Construction in the amount of$174,050 with funding to derive from the CIP as referenced.
Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara.
VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0.
Roll Call Vote:
Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes
Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed, none
