b <br /> ES.3, PublicParticipation <br /> The Mashpee Sever Commission has actively engaged in public participation throughout the planning <br /> process, with a focus on educating the public on the issues of wastewater and nutrients as they relate to <br /> the watersheds of F'cpponcsset Bay and Waqucit Bag's past basin,-as well as the rer ai.ning portions of <br /> M ashpee within the project, Planning Area. The Commission has actively encouraged residents, Town. <br /> loaders, business loaders, regulators, and adjacent communities within and outside of the planning area to <br /> actively participate in the planning process. The public outreach program consists of several components, <br /> 00 Monthly Sewer Commission meetings—televised and open to the public. <br /> CO A Community Advisory Committee (CAC)—as appointed by the Board of Selectmen. <br /> CO Publics presentations on various phases and aspects of the project and related efforts through the <br /> Town and Region. <br /> 00 Development of public education materials: <br /> Project web page: w .mashpeewaters.com, including project description, meeting minutes,, <br /> reports, contacts, and other project related information. <br /> Project kiosk- focusing on the problem and where to get additional information. <br /> Informational flier (first of two) the first focused on the nitrogen issues facing the PPA and <br /> general information on the project. The second will be coordinated with the submittal of the <br /> Final Recommended Plan. <br /> 00 Participation in a formal MEPA/CCC environmental review process. <br /> CO Participation in several "pilot' projects supported by Barnstable County and other regional <br /> i <br /> agencies, <br /> CO ,point meetings with Barnstable, Falmouth, and Sandwich to review the project and the efforts <br /> being made by all parties to address nitrogen in these watersheds and throughout the region. <br /> CO Participation in the Cape Cod Commission 20Planning process. <br /> ESA Summary of Previous Elua <br /> Throughout the planning process the CWIVIP has evaluated several alternatives/options and has <br /> performed additional related evaluations in the process of developing a Recommended Plan. <br /> Following the release of the deeds Assessment Deport, the r" ashpee Sewer Commission identified five <br /> different management scenarios for evaluation and analysis.
