On behalf
of the Friends, Trustee Sandra Horsman asked whether it was allowed for the Friends to have a
container of some type at the Library that would passively allow patrons to make donations to the
Friends. The Library Director indicated that would not pose a problem, but for security reasons, the
container should not be a clear container or one that allowed the public to view money as this might
encourage theft.
Library Director's Report
The Library Director reported that the Library's budget request was on track for approval, and no
reductions had been requested at the Town level. The existing carpet was cleaned by the DPW in preparation
for the upcoming Legislative Luncheon being held in the Event Room on January 11.
The Library Director provided an update on the Library's application for Community Preservation
Funds to digitize the Mashpee Enterprise. The Library Director and Assistant Library Director
attended the meeting of the Mashpee Historic Commission on January 3, at the request of the
Community Preservation Committee in order to obtain a vote, which would identify the Mashpee
Enterprise as historically and culturally significant to the town. The Mashpee Historic Commission
unanimously voted that the Mashpee Enterprise merited this status, which then tentatively paved the
way for the Coninwirity Preservation Coninii1ttee to approve funding: However, during the Historic
