�k <br /> BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING <br /> TUESDAY,January 8, 2019 <br /> MASHPEE LIBRARY CONFERENCE ROOM <br /> Present: Matt Auger,Amanda Hall, Sandra Horsman, and Ann Macdonald <br /> Absent: Mary LeClair, Joan Lyons, Virginia Scharfenberg <br /> Also Present: Kathy Mahoney—Library Director <br /> The meeting was called to order at 4:12 p.m. <br /> Public Discussion: None <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> MOTION: Sandra Horsman motioned to accept the Regular Meeting ininutes of December 11, 2018 as <br /> presented. The Motion was seconded by Amanda Hall <br /> Yes-4. VOTE: <br /> Roll Call Vote: Ann Macdonald,yes Amanda Hall, yes <br /> Matt Auger;yes Sandra Horsman,yes <br /> Friends of the Mashpee Library <br /> The Friends of the Library annual appeal is doing very well and they have received great response. <br /> They are planning events for the spring and summer months including Library Mini-Golf. On behalf <br /> of the Friends, Trustee Sandra Horsman asked whether it was allowed for the Friends to have a <br /> container of some type at the Library that would passively allow patrons to make donations to the <br /> Friends. The Library Director indicated that would not pose a problem,but for security reasons,the <br /> container should not be a clear container or one that allowed the public to view money as this might <br /> encourage theft. <br /> Library Director's Report <br /> The Library Director reported that the Library's budget request was on track for approval,and no <br /> reductions had been requested at the Town level. It was also noted that until the budget process is <br /> completed and finalized changes were possible. Other larger departments in town, such as the schools <br /> requested significant increases in operating expenses, and if they were all approved it could result in <br /> cuts to other town budgets. Once the funding is somewhat stable, the hiring process for additional <br /> part-time staff would soon begin and those jobs would be filled. <br /> The carpet for the Event Room was ordered by the DPW, but the manufacturer shipped the wrong <br /> product,which delayed the installation. The existing carpet was cleaned by the DPW in preparation <br /> for the upcoming Legislative Luncheon being held in the Event Room on January 11. <br /> The Library Director provided an update on the Library's application for Community Preservation <br /> Funds to digitize the Mashpee Enterprise. The Library Director and Assistant Library Director <br /> attended the meeting of the Mashpee Historic Commission on January 3, at the request of the <br /> Community Preservation Committee in order to obtain a vote,which would identify the Mashpee <br /> Enterprise as historically and culturally significant to the town. The Mashpee Historic Commission <br /> unanimously voted that the Mashpee Enterprise merited this status,which then tentatively paved the <br /> way for the Coninwirity Preservation Coninii1ttee to approve funding: However, during the Historic <br />
