The next fundraiser will be on September 13, and features New York
Times bestselling author Lisa Genova, who will discuss her book,Every Note Played. Board members
expressed their appreciation for the Friends efforts and fundraising abilities.
The Friends requested that the Trustees discuss plans for the memorial garden and establish
fundraising guidelines and opportunities. A brief history of memorial gifts was offered, which included
the need to replace a memorial tree in honor of late Library Trustee, Diana Smith, and mark it with a
suitable plaque, and to finalize a plan to dedicate a tree to the late Anton Buschenfeldt. It was agreed
that an existing Dogwood tree would be dedicated to Diana Smith(Library Director will follow up
with DPW Director), and Ann Macdonald would speak with Evelyn Buschenfeldt to ascertain her
wishes. The need to create a"master"plan for the landscaping itself and fundraising options was
discussed. Joan Lyons raised the question of the plan for the second phase of landscaping along Jobs
Fishing Road, which could offer additional fundraising options. It was decided to work on these
questions in the future.
Tour of Event Room The Board exited the meeting room at 4:32 p.m. to view carpet samples in the
Event Room. After viewing new samples and pictures provided by the Library Director, it was
decided to pursue the style of carpeting in use in the lower level Town Hall lobby. The Library
Director will follow up with DPW Director.
Library Director's Report
