BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING <br /> TUESDAY,MAY 8, 2018 <br /> MASHPEE LIBRARY CONFERENCE ROOM <br /> Present: Mary LeClair, Joan Lyons, Sandra Horsman,Amanda Hall, Matt Auger, Virginia <br /> Scharfenberg and Allen Waters <br /> Also Present: Kathy Mahoney—Library Director, Jean Giliberti—Retired Board Secretary <br /> Mary LeClair, Chair, called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. <br /> Public Discussion: Jean Giliberti expressed her gratitude for the years she served as the Library' <br /> Board Secretary and thanked everyone for the support and well wishes. The Trustees offered sincere <br /> thanks to Jean for her dedication and professionalism in serving the Library Board. (Jean Giliberti <br /> exited the meeting at 4:15 p.m.) <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> MOTION: Joan Lyons motioned to accept the Regular Meeting minutes of February 13,2018 and April 10, <br /> 2018 as presented. The Motion was seconded by Sandra Horsman. <br /> VOTE: Yes-7. <br /> Roll Call Vote: Sandra Horsman,yes Amanda Hall,yes <br /> Virginia Scharfenberg,yes Mary LeClair,yes <br /> Allen Waters,yes Matt Auger,yes <br /> Joan Lyons,yes <br /> Tour of Event Room and Library Garden <br /> The group visited the Event Room to inspect the condition of the carpeting and view samples of carpet <br /> tiles that might be used when the carpeting is replaced. The consensus was that the Event Room is <br /> heavily used and the carpeting is showing signs of wear and tear, and is due for replacement. Various <br /> swatches were examined and the Library Director was asked to obtain larger samples of two patterns to <br /> provide a better sense of how it would look in the room. <br /> The garden area was visited to discuss plans to create a "Memorial Garden,"which is a project the <br /> Friends of the Library have adopted. Plans for installing a picnic table and benches were discussed, as <br /> well as options for"hardscaping" an area of the garden to allow for the secure installation of the <br /> furniture and to ensure that it would be accessible to all. The condition of the lawn,plants, and trees <br /> was also noted. The severe winter storms experienced during the month of March did result in some <br /> damage to the trees,which may need to be addressed. The area was also in need of weeding or <br /> additional care. The Library Director agreed to talk to the DPW about the upkeep of the area, and will <br /> report back to the Board. (Allen Waters left the garden and exited the meeting at 4:40 p.m. and did not <br /> return.) <br /> The Trustees returned to session in the Conference Room and discussed selection of tables and benches <br /> from the DuMor catalog, which is the vendor that was used for the outdoor furniture when the Library <br />
