was constructed in 2010. The consensus was to purchase one 4 x 4 square picnic table with attached
seating on three sides, and a fourth side open for accessibility for patrons using wheelchairs. The table
material will consist of recycled materials, with 4 inch by 4 inch slats, and will match the coloring of
existing outdoor Library benches. In addition two benches will be purchased for the area, and each
will be six feet in length with 4 inch by 4 inch slats. The Library Director will consult the DPW
Director in regard to purchasing an outdoor garbage/trash/recycling can.
Friends of the Mashpee Library
Sandra Horsman reported that the Friends are currently working on multiple events. There will be a
Tea Garden Party to be held at Willowbend Country Club on June 28, 2018 with an author event as
well. Sandra encouraged all Trustees to support this event. The event is being sponsored through a
generous donation from Maffei landscaping.
The Friends are also preparing to launch a fundraising cash raffle and will be stationed outside
Mashpee grocery stores during the busy summer months.
Two additional author events are also in the planning stages and will be held at the Willowbend
Country Club. The first is scheduled for August 9, and will feature local author, Joe Deitch. The
second event is tentatively scheduled for September 14, and will feature author Lisa Genova, who will
speak about her most recent book. Details for this event are still under review, and still need to be
finalized and confirmed.
Reports
There was brief discussion of the Library Director's report. Updates on the current status of filling
vacant positions was provided by the Library Director. The success of the One Book One Community
event was recognized, as well as the huge turnout for the Library's 8`1 Birthday Party during April
school vacation.
Policy Reviews
The Trustees reviewed and approved by consensus minor edits and corrections to the Collection
Development Policy, the Borrowing Privileges and Loan Policy, the Study Room Policy, and the
Sponsorship Policy.
Strategic Planning
The Trustees have been provided materials related to the Strategic Planning process and discussed a
timeline for the project. It was agreed that the preparation and pre-planning should continue
throughout the summer months, and the first meetings involving community members and other town
representatives should begin in the fall. A planning model needs to be adopted, and then candidates to
fill the role of meeting facilitator will be identified. The Trustees and Library Director agreed to think
about possible candidates for discussion at the next meeting, which will focus on Strategic Planning
and Goal Setting.
Communications
z
