The consensus is for the Library Director to arrange for the Event Room carpet to be cleaned prior to
January 11. The Library Director will consult the DPW Director on choice of vendors. A number of
Trustees will attend the luncheon.
Purchasing a new HDMI projector for the Event Room was discussed. The wiring for the new
projector was completed about two years ago, but the purchase was delayed in favor of continuing to
use the existing model until end of life. After Fist of year, pricing for new projector will be obtained.
The status of the Falmouth Library's membership in CLAMS is still not decided. A decision will be
made by the OCLN network on December 20.
The expanded morning hours went into effect on December 2, and word is spreading. Patrons are
beginning to arrive between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Meeting Room Policy was discussed regarding after hours use of the meeting rooms by outside groups,
which is subject to use fees and hiring a building monitor. (Meetings by outside groups include
meetings not sponsored or co-sponsored by the Library, Town, or Schools to benefit the town.) The
afterhours meetings are often disruptive to the library's own plans to use the room, delaying set up for
meetings or programs the following mornings, and sometimes requiring library staff to stay late for
various reasons to assist with the evening meeting.
MOTION: Sandra Horsman Motioned to amend the Library Meeting Room Policy to limit after hours
use of meeting rooms by outside groups seeking to hold meetings or programs that are not sponsored
or co-sponsored by the Library, Town, or Mashpee Schools or Town agencies. The Motion was
seconded by Ann Macdonald.
VOTE:
Yes-7
Roll Call Vote: Virginia Scharfenberg, yes Mary LeClair, yes
Ann Macdonald, yes Joan Lyons, yes
Amanda Hall, yes Sandra Horsman, yes
Matt Auger, yes
The Library's grant funded programs for job seekers will begin after the new year. The application for
funding from the Community Preservation Committee is in the review process, and would ultimately
be decided at May Town meeting if moved forward by the Committee.
Advocacy opportunities for the Board were discussed. Board members are enthusiastic about sharing
information about the library with residents and groups and raising awareness of the services and
programs provided. Board members can share information with groups or organizations in town.
Homeowners associations were identified as an obvious starting point. Trustees will develop a mini
overview or talking points to emphasize that will highlight resources that would be of use to Home
owners groups. A program will be developed to share the updates with these groups.
Communications
