School Committee Meeting Minutes May 9, 2018 Present were: Don Myers, Chris Santos, Geoff Gorman, George Schmidt and Nicole Bartlett. Also present was Patty DeBoer, Superintendent and Hope Hanscom, Assistant Superintendent. II Call Meeting to Order Mr. Myers called the meeting to order @6:30pm. III. Approval of Minutes -April 25, 2018 Mr. Schmidt made a motion, seconded by Mr.Gorman to approve the minutes of April 25, 2018 as written. Roll Call Vote: Ms.Bartlett, Mr. Schmidt, Mr. Gorman, Mr. Santos and Mr. Myers; opposed - none IV. Representative from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Nitana Hicks updated the Committee on the Tribe's collaboration with the schools. V. Representative David Vieira and Senator Julian Cyr Representative Vieira was not able to attend. State Senator Cyr applauded Frederick Hanna and presented him with a citation from the state thanking him for serving as the student liaison for the Mashpee Public Schools. Mr. Cyr updated the committee regarding the legislative items being discussed. VI. Student Advisory Council - Frederick Hanna III &Skyla Rimple Frederick Hanna's final meeting with the Committee. He was presented with many well wishes for his future plans as well as accolades for the wonderful job he did serving as the student liaison for Mashpee Middle-High School. VII. Project 351 - MMHS 8th grader Skyla Rimple Skyla Rimple shared with the Committee her time spent with Project 351. Skyla will be serving as the new student liaison to the school committee for the Mashpee Middle-High School. The Committee welcomes Skyla and looks forward to her reports. VIII. #Enough MMHS Sophomore Stella Bold and Peyton Dauley Stella Bold and Peyton Dauley presented a brief update on the March 14, 2018 event which was spearheaded by them.
