4 Board of Selectmen Minutes August 19, 2019 Discussion and Approval of Appointment to the Cultural Council (Term to Expire September 30, 2020): Andrea Watson: The Board of Selectmen met with Andrea Watson, a relatively new member of the Mashpee community regarding her interest in serving on the Cultural Council. Ms. Watson has a background and interest in the arts and in community development. As a member of the Cultural Council Ms. Watson would have the opportunity to learn more about the Town of Mashpee and become an effective participant in civic activities. Culture brings a community together. Correspondence was received from the Mashpee Cultural Council dated August 1, 2019 recommending the appointment of Andrea Watson. Motion made by Selectman Sherman to appoint Andrea Watson to the Cultural Council for a term to expire; September 30,2020. Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. Roll Call Vote: Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed, none Discussion and Approval of Appointment to the Board of Registrars (Term to Expire March 21, 2021): Alexis Hanson: A letter of interest was received from Alexis Hanson dated August 7, 2019 requesting to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Susan M. Regan. Ms. Hanson has lived in Mashpee since 1974, and has been involved in Mashpee elections during this period. Motion made by Selectman Sherman to appoint Alexis Hanson to the Board of Registrars for a term to expire; March 21, 2021. Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. Roll Call Vote: Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed, none Discussion and Approval of the October 1 2019 Special Town Election Warrant: Correspondence was received from Deborah Dami, Town Clerk dated August 13, 2019 relative to the Special Election Warrant of Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Christ the King Parish, 5 Jobs Fishing Road, Mashpee from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to Vote for One Selectmen member for the remainder of the term; 8 months. Chairman Gottlieb recommended the Board defer approval and execution of the Special Election Warrant until Thursday, August 22, 2019 when the Board of Selectmen would have the option to consider a debt exclusion for some of the funding to be considered for wastewater. The Board of Selectmen agreed to defer approval and execution of the Special Town Election Warrant as recommended. Town Manager Rodney C. Collins indicated that Thursday, August 22, 2019 is the deadline for approval and execution of the Special Town Election Warrant to adhere to posting requirements.
