-2-
Archives the materials that are kept in the Rare Book file, and borrowing other reference items
on a shorter term basis so they would be available if another researcher wanted to use them.
Rosemary made a motion that we check with the clerk before removing items, and the motion
was approved by Joan.
We discussed the proposal by the Town to reallocate 1% of the CPC funds to Waste Water
proposed projects. We agreed to be amenable to whatever is in the best interest of the
Mashpee Community.
Nancy brought up for discussion the materials presently being kept in the basement. Most of
the items have been put on the Rolling Shelving and have been catalogued. There are several
file cabinets that we have down there. However, there remains a large collection of pictures
which were formerly hung on peg board surrounding the basement, which we no longer have.
The problem for us is how do we manage to store them and catalogue them. Unfortunately they
are disorganized and are taking up a lot of space that we need to use in order to make the
basement a better work area. Nancy will be working on organizing our map collection, and
since they are quite large, she needs to have a working space to accommodate the work that
needs to be done.
Joan had a question about a tree that was planted in memory/honor of Dorothy Cash, in the
Community Park. She will check with Rita Gonzalves, daughter of Dorothy Cash, to see what
she remembers.as no one on the Mashpee Historical Commission is aware of any such tree
planting.
Joan has offered to review our book collection in the Ann Tanneyhill Library and to bring
recommendations before the Commission for purchasing new books.
Our recent Preservation Award Ceremony, held on June 15, 2019, was discussed, and a few
comments were made as to how we could improve what we are doing for our next public event-
an Open House in October.
Rosemary made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:00 pm, and Richard seconded the motion.
Respectfully submitted,
Ann Graham, Sr. Clerk
