Ms. Landry indicated that an online form was <br /> not possible on the Town's website. The Chair suggested that a response could be emailed to the <br /> Committee and be printed out by the Chair,when received. <br /> MOTION: Ms.Waterman made a motion that the Subcommittee create a final version of this <br /> form and go ahead and distribute as they see fit throughout the community. Ms.Brown <br /> seconded the motion. All voted unanimously. <br /> Child Care October Town Meeting-There was consensus to keep the item on the agenda. It <br /> was suggested that another article appear in the paper and advertisement be ongoing. <br /> Committee Members' Outside Activities Reporting-The Chair attended the Woods Hole <br /> Diversity Advisory Committee and observed that it was standing room only,predominantly young <br /> people and a diverse group of scientists. The Chair reported that the one hour meeting format <br /> consisted of short statements and personal experiences shared with the crowd listening. <br /> The Chair also attended a meeting coordinated by Representative Keating, called the Mosaic Project, <br /> and held at the Waquoit Church. The Chair reported that the meeting was a similar format offering <br /> recorded immigration stories, designed to listen to the stories. <br /> Student Representative Update-The Chair stated that Mr. Taylor would be approaching the <br /> Board of Selectmen for approval regarding the addition of a second student representative,which <br /> would require changing the wording in the membership of the Committee. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Resignations and Recruitment-The Chair had been advised that formal letters of resignation <br /> had been forwarded to the Town Clerk and will be provided to the Board of Selectmen, in order to <br /> advertise openings on the Committee. The Chair read the statement under Vacancies, which would <br /> allow the Board of Selectmen to appoint new members after the Committee met with prospective <br /> members and nominated representatives from the various listed interests. The Chair sent a letter to Sue <br /> Wilson, who organizes PRIDE, and expressed interest in the Committee and invited her to attend a <br /> future meeting and draft reasons for her interest. The Chair invited Mr. Zefzaf s thoughts,who pointed <br /> out that diversity and inclusion was also each individual's story, regardless of cultural differences, <br /> emphasizing the importance of getting to know people in order to remove stereotypes. Mr. Zefzaf <br /> suggested a workshop about storytelling as a means to reach out to others. The Chair noted the <br /> importance of including on the Committee the diverse people of Mashpee and inquired how best to <br /> reach out to individuals with different stories. Mr. Horner shared his personal experience feeling <br /> concerned about being profiled. Ms. Waterman recommended reaching out to different groups <br /> identified in the Mission. It was recommended that all Committee members reach out to potential <br /> candidates for consideration to the Committees. <br /> Human Rights Club/Academy-The Chair reached out with the Falmouth contact who <br /> confirmed that there would be a Human Rights Academy. The Chair was in contact with Ms. <br /> Hendricks regarding the potential to support a group to attend from Mashpee. <br /> Diversity in Mashpee-Ms. Waterman suggested reaching out to Barnstable County to share <br /> Mashpee demographics with the Committee. <br /> 3 <br />
