recommended Veteran Parking signage, one space at the Archives and one space at the Community
Park. Once the Committee approved the draft signage, Mr. Taylor would move forward.
MOTION: Ms.Brown made a motion to approve the signage.
Ms. Waterman inquired whether the Committee should be referenced in the signage and Ms. Wilson
suggested that the Town Seal could be sufficient. Ms. Landry suggested that"for" should not appear
across the flag. There was consensus from the Committee to remove "for."
MOTION: Ms.Brown made a motion to accept the sign proposed for the DPW, omitting the
word "for." Ms. Wilson seconded the motion. All voted unanimously.
The Chair thanked Mr. Horner for his contributions and efforts working with the Committee. Mr.
Horner hoped to work with Mr. Quilty and other towns to offer free beach stickers to Veterans. The
Chair inquired whether the Committee would be interested in approaching local businesses to follow
the lead of Botelhos. It was noted that other businesses on Cape had provided Veterans' parking. Ms.
Wilson recommended working with Mary Lou Palumbo of the Chamber of Commerce. There was
consensus to reach out to Ms. Palumbo.
MIDC Brochure Subcommittee-The Chair stated that they were continuing to work toward
updating the contact information and answering questions about the brochure. It had been suggested to
seek a permission waiver for any underage individuals in the group picture, for the cover of the
brochure. The Chair would utilize the school's photo permission form. The photograph was expected
to take place on August 22 and a location was still being considered. The photo would incorporate a
variety of people. Ms. Waterman offered to send the permission slip she uses at the Senior Center.
Community Awareness Campaign Subcommittee Update-Ms. Wilson reported that the
Subcommittee had met and identified the statement"I help others feel included by . . ." as a prompt for
residents to share their thoughts. The flyer would be made available at locations in Town and through
the school system. The draft proposal needed approval from the Committee before being reviewed by
the Town Manager. Collected responses would be displayed in the form of a collage at Town Meeting
and other locations in Mashpee.
There was discussion about adding a tear off at the bottom of the form. Marketing for the activity
would be by flyer, website, distribution through the school system and with an article in the paper. It
was suggested by a Committee member that Mashpee Messaging would not be an appropriate means
for distributing the information. In an effort to encourage public understanding,Ms. Waterman
suggested adding wording from the MIDC Purpose but it was thought there was insufficient space for
the Mission Statement. It was decided that the Committee's email would be added so that interested
parties could reach out for additional information. It was noted that Ms.Nadeau would be reaching out
directly to locations that would be hosting collection boxes. There was further discussion about the
statement and adding a quote to encourage a stronger response and to better connect with the Mission.
Mr. Horner suggested that the graphic could be more inclusive by adding a wheelchair and a veteran.
It was noted that one page was insufficient to be able to include everything and everyone. Due to the
short timeframe before the October 21 Town Meeting, there was consensus that the Subcommittee be
empowered to make the suggested changes and move forward with the effort. The Committee and
volunteers would be notified if their assistance was needed with distribution. There was also
discussion about staffing distribution at events such as Oktoberfest and the special Town election. The
Chair invited Mr. Zefzaf s thoughts who suggested that the definition of inclusion could be added to
2
