Request Certificate of Compliance COC
43-2962.
PRE/POST-HEARING AGENDA:
• Enforcement Order: 185 Uncle Percys Road - review of mitigation plan
Agent reviewed what led up to this violation. Agent worked with Wayne Tavares on a mitigation plan
with a 5 year monitoring&maintenance plan. Once this plan is confirmed, then we can move forward
with timelines, beginning next spring. Mr. McKay expressed concerns where the house is for sale and
the condition of the lawn. Agent said we could have the lawn entirely removed and put in mulch or
something. Mr. Sweet said we need to get this in place before any sale of the house. Agent said we
can't record enforcement orders. Ms. Cadoret asked if a performance bond comes into play in this
situation. Agent said it certainly could be. Agent also mentioned potentially contacting the real estate
agent to inform them.
• Updates: Assistant Conservation Agent
Ms. Cadoret update the Commission about the Mashpee Land Stewards concerns. They've done a
few trail clearings and pollinator maintenance work days over the last few weeks. She informed them
of the coast sweep they did last Wednesday at the State side of South Cape Beach. They'll be an
opportunity this Saturday at the Town side of South Cape Beach. The coast sweep cleanup is put on
by the Coastal Zone Management Office. She reached out to individual stewards per parcel for
suggestions. A couple that stuck out in her mind were to remap the Noisy Hole Trails and potentially
reblaze the some trails at Jehu Pond. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service had their parcels closed to
the public for a while, but they are reopening them now, at least for hunting. Last Friday she worked
with the Tribal Americorps members. They offered to help and we did some trimming inside Pickerel
Cove, removed some hazardous overhanging branches, cut up some downed trees, widen trails with
brush cutters. Herring count program, still waiting to hear back. Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge
and friends came to Wild About Estuaries a couple Saturdays ago at Waquoit Bay Reserve. A lot of
partners of the refuge came, including Falmouth Rod & Gun Club, the Tribe, U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, WEBNNER staff. They took people out on the new landing craft and we were able to award
the David Palmer Award to the founders of the refuge. There is a Wild about Wildlife event at
Naukabout, Saturday October 12, between 1-4pm with animal ambassadors from Wild Care and
Amazing Animal Ambassadors. Trail Guides are almost done and should be delivered this week.
Friends brochures are also done. She's been working with Eagle Scouts. Andrew Quinn just finished
installing picture posts in five areas, to track seasonal or restoration changes over time. Also working
on pollinator garden off Great Neck Road North. FYI-Selectmen are having special meetings Monday
nights to discuss wastewater. Also a Facebook page called Mashpee Clean Waters is hosting
webinars. Pollinator garden updates: we're looking for potential funding sources for a 2 acre parcel
at Pickerel Cove. Public Service Announcements: EEE has been found in Mashpee mosquitoes.
Board of Health has posted signs. Starting October 1-30 they are doing rabies vaccination
distributions at conservation areas, signs have been posted.
