4 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> June 20, 2019 <br /> Request for Letter of Support for the Garner Bogs/Upper Childs River Restoration Project <br /> (continued) <br /> The Community Preservation Committee recommended to Town Meeting in May of 2019 <br /> funding in the amount of$240,510 for the Garner Bogs/Upper Childs River Restoration Project <br /> to assist in the creation of a cold-water fishery in the Upper Childs River and to restore the <br /> abandoned Garner and Farley cranberry bogs to wetlands. <br /> A draft letter was presented to the CPC addressed to the Department of the Interior U.S. Fish & <br /> Wildlife Service in support for the Childs River Restoration proposal. The project is managed by <br /> the Falmouth Rod& Gun Club in collaboration with many partners and supporters including the <br /> Town of Mashpee. <br /> Of the $240,510 in CPA funding, $125,510 would be committed to be provided as a non-federal <br /> match for this grant. <br /> Motion made by Ms. Waygan to authorize CPC member Richard Halpern to sign off on <br /> the grant letter in support and commitment to the Childs River Restoration proposal. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Larkin. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0-1. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Gottlieb, abstained Mrs. Thayer,yes Mr. Halpern,yes <br /> Mr. Larkin,yes Ms. Waygan,yes Mr. Harsch,yes Opposed, none <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS <br /> Review of CPA Applications proposed for October 2019 Town Meeting: <br /> Catherine Laurent Director of Public Works <br /> Proposed Title: Ockway Bay Boat Ramp Improvement Project Phase IL• <br /> Catherine Laurent, Director of Public Works was in attendance to review the application <br /> submitted by the DPW, the Waterways Commission and Department of Natural Resources. <br /> In October 2017, the CPC approved funding in the amount of$121,500 to conduct Phase II of <br /> the project scope to support site design and to reconfigure the congested Ockway Bay parking <br /> area. The property will now accommodate 19 vehicle/trailer spaces in addition to 8 vehicle-only <br /> spaces. <br /> As a result of topography more extensive work for this project is required. Ms. Laurent has <br /> requested $40,000 to complete the project. The figure has been reduced from the initial $55,000 <br /> estimate listed in the application. The project includes a top course of asphalt, shoulder work, <br /> landscape and a DNR storage area which was planned in the initial application. <br />
