r ti
Steve Pinard remarked that the Little Neck Bay residents are uncomfortable about
hunting privileges at the park, but they agree that the hunting activity is minimal.
Perry Ellis stated that the hunting is restricted to the Wills Work Road area, and there
has never been an incident, to his knowledge.
Carey Murphy made a motion to allow continuation of hunting on South Cape Beach
again in the 2009 season. Mike Cardeiro seconded the motion. Ben Lofchie and Lewis
Newell opposed. The motion passed.
REPORT ON MONUMENT PLAQUE
Frank Connelly agreed to investigate how much it will cost to replace the plaque, and
how it will be paid for. He will get a quote on bronze, but will also inquire about
alternative materials. Baker Monument did the first plaque. Other options to consider
include Clover located on Main Street, and Maffie. Bill Martiros is concerned that the
plaque be securely anchored into the stone to prevent another theft.
OTHER BUSINESS
Bill Martiros inquired about availability of parking year round for hikers, as hiking is a
year-round activity at the Park. The State beach parking lot will be open during the
summer season, as well as the Bayberry parking lots. Off-season, the South Cape
Beach parking lot is open year-round and is available for use by hikers.
The trail from the town beach to the jetty has a sandy, rough surface for walking. It was
suggested that a better walking surface would be an improvement for those who enjoy
walking to the jetty.
Jeralyn Smith announced that Mike Richardson had been appointed as Selectman's
liaison to the South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee. Mike has indicated
that he will try to attend as many of the meetings as possible.
Jeralyn Smith will follow up with Allan Morris about the bike rack at the State Park
parking lot area.
Jeralyn Smith will inquire at the Town Clerk's office about the procedure for re-
appointment of members to the South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee.
Lewis Newell will also contact Mike Richardson to inquire about the procedure.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee was
cn he State Beach.
l for Tuesday, J 128 2009 at 6 PM at the Overlook at t
scheduled July ,
As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:40 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
d6Af
Ina G. Schlobohm
Recording Secretary
2
