BOX 1108 <br /> Pqg Ca MASHPEE, MA 02649 <br /> PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE <br /> Pursuant to Chapter 40A of Massachusetts General Law, the Mashpee <br /> Planning Board will conduct a public hearing at 8:25 P.M. on <br /> Tuesday , November 26,1985, at Town Hall, Central Road, Mashpee <br /> to see if the Town will vote to enact a moratorium upon the issuance <br /> of building permits or wastewater disposal permits and the approval <br /> of, or acceptance of applications for, subdivision plans, "approval- <br /> not-required" plans and special permits for cluster or multi-family <br /> residential developments or golf courses within the groundwater recharge <br /> areas and surface watersheds of Ashumet Pond, Johns Pond, Mashpee Pond, <br /> Wakeby Pond, Santuit Pond, Hamblins Pond, Jehu Pond, Upper Great River <br /> (that portion included in the "rrlaquoit Bay Area of Critical Environmental <br /> Concern"), and Ockway Bay, the recharge area of the Highwood Water <br /> Company water supply wells, and any land within 300 feet of the Mashpee, <br /> Quashnet, Childs or Santuit Rivers, Red Brook, Quaker Run south of <br /> Route 28, Shoestring Bay (that part of Popponesset Bay above Simons <br /> Narrows) and their adjacent wetlands, in order to permit a review by <br /> appropriate Town boards, agencies and consultants of the present <br /> regulations and controls governing such construction or development for <br /> the express purpose of protecting the health, safety and welfare of the <br /> inhabitants of the Town in as much as the Town has no municipal water <br /> supply or sewage treatment facility and has experienced deteriorating <br /> groundwater and su:_--ace water quality. Said moratorium shall not apply <br /> to any division of land or special permit where all portions of the <br /> Ate which is t�Ys.t:hin the above-described areas are to be preserved for <br /> undistrubed (sic) natural open space. Said Moratorium shall expire two <br /> years from the date of the Town Meeting at which it was adopted, during <br /> which time tie appropriate Boards and agencies shall develop and cause <br /> to be enacted any regulations found necessary to ensure the health, <br /> safety and welfare of the inhabitants of the Town with regard to <br /> groundwater and surface water quality in the above-described areas. <br /> Submitted by, <br /> Richard S.
