Willowbend, ia.shpee Commons, Wi dchime Point ,
Southport, High School , Stratford Ponds .
Tom explained he thinks the Commission should first refine their
strategy.
He said ideally you would like the wastewater discharge to b
outside of a recharge area. It is preferable not to put it in a
delicate recharge area. However, remember that a. sewage
treatment plant is better than a title 5 system.
The members reviewed various areas of town and discussed systems
that may be appropriate for those areas.
East side of Santuit Pond, re-circulating sand filters .
Brad said the Commission should be looming at our priorities.
High nitrogen is causing problems to the environment .
Torn said the Popponesset area is not a priority because the
groundwater flow out to sea. Groundwater flows are critical .
Brad debates taking it out .
He asked about the Deans Pond area?
Torn said the Board of Health doesn' t think water quality is a
problem in Deans Pond.
The -D groundwater model the water district is working on is not
complete yet.
Brad said the major reason the town decided on public water is
because of Otis . Tom added also because of the concerns of the
landfill plume and saltwater intrusion on the islands .
Torn said one of the densest areas of town, North Mashpee , is also
one of the areas least able to pay for sewage.
Brad asked about State aid* Tom said there is no State aid for
se ering, only loans .
Brad thinks Cotuit Bay condos should be the number one target .
Tom said Summer wood condos and the Riverbend are going directly
to the Hashpee Riven,
Dennis said this Commission should choose an area, of torn, them a
location for a system and have a feasibility study done.
Tom suggested the Pirates Cove area., they are most concerned
about the Mashpee River. Summer wood condos and Sea Oaks could
also be tied into that .
Another area could be I a.shpee Neck, up to Summerwood and Ashers
Path, maybe Ashers Heights .
Dennis said a large facility takes a lot of room, is there room
in the Pirates Cove are for that?
2
i
