The
plan suggests the Sewer Commission engage a consulting firm to conduct a two phase
wastewater facilities and management plan. He recommends requesting the funding at the May,
1998 town meeting. This Commission will develop are RFP for a consultant.
The second ease would actually be designing the projects.
Dennis said he thinks a goal to buy land at the head of the watershed should be added.
Tom said that is included, along with a list, in the Open Space plan.
Denm's would still like to see that as a goal in this element, with the Open Space element tying
them al together.
Torn explained that the State will be developing a plan to provide loans for towns for wastewater
facilities planning, but the toga.s will have to budget the money.
Brad would like for the Commission to goose a project, get details on how to do it and start to
implement it. He does not want this to become like the Otis situation, where it is just report
after report.
Torn said the people are not going to support something without the proof we need scientific
facts to back us up.
Brad suggested the Commission should work on changing the fact that you cannot use treated
wastewater for wtcring i.e. golf courses)in this Mate. It has been clone elsewhere and it males
sense. Having a sand base is in our favor.
Tom said the issue is that viruses don't get filtered in the treatment process.
The Sewer Commission members will read this report and be ready to comment.
.. The Planing Board is holding a public meeting on the third Wednesday of September.
The Sewer Commission will meet again the second Wednesday of September. Ifthere are any
changes they would life to rake, they can be passed onto the Planing Board at the meeting.
Dennis made a motion to adjourn the meeting a 7: p.m. Brad seconded the motion.
All members were in favor -0*
NEXT SC DULED MEETING IS WEDNESDAY SEPT EMBER 1 ,7:00 PAL
TOWN BALL
Nfinutes submitted by Arden r .
